Improvement over https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/11469.
Depends on https://github.com/react-native-community/boost-for-react-native/issues/1, **don't merge before it is fixed**.
It would be more in line with other dependencies to depend only on github for thirdparty bridge dependencies.

Boost is officially hosted on SourceForge which has ab SSL problem that Gradle complains about and also it is sometimes unavailable.
I switched to using npm hosted (yarnpkg mirrored for performance) boost lib exactly the same as from Source Forge.
Other alternatives considered:
- CDN e.g. mirror.nienbo.com started responding with 4XX code when requested by Gradle
- File sharing like DropBox are not for mass anonymous downloads
- Github is not good for binary files and is throttled for anonymous raw file downloads
- S3 or similar. Requires amazon account for maintenance and does not expose semver API and other nice features that npm has
In the future I'd like to try Yarn as dependency management tool for bridge builds, this could be the first step.

Compared to the `<MapView>` that comes with React Native, [react-native-maps](https://github.com/airbnb/react-native-maps) work on Android and is more feature complete. It is actively maintained and used extensively (9.2k installs / month, see [JS.Coach](https://js.coach/react-native/react-native-maps?search=react-native-maps)).
We think now is a good time to switch to react-native-maps in your applications and make `react-native-maps` the official `<MapView>` implementation for React Native.
We are going to release the deprecated `<MapView>` as a separate npm module so you can migrate to `react-native-maps` at your own pace.

Summary:
Right now, the ScrollView's keyboard hiding behavior is either all or nothing: Hide the keyboard on any tap, or do nothing ever. This PR introduces a third mode to keyboardShouldPersistTaps which is much closer to what I consider should be the default.
In the new behavior, the tap responding is done in the bubbling phase (instead of the capture phase like =true). As a result, a child can handle the tap. If no child does, then the ScrollView will receive the tap and will hide the keyboard. As a result, changing TextInput focus works as a user expects, with a single tap and without keyboard hiding. But taping on Text or on the empty part of the ScrollView hides the keyboard and removes the focus.
You can view the behavior in a monkey patched ScrollView demo on rnplay:
https://rnplay.org/apps/E90UYwhttps://rnplay.org/apps/UGzhKA
In order to have a uniform props set, i added 3 values to the keyboardShouldPersistTaps:
'never' and 'always' are the same as false and true.
'handled' is the new behavior.

This is a simple one line change. When a red box is launching the editor, if `launchEditor.js` is aware of your editor it can also add a line number to open the file at. So if the stacktrace shows an error on like 56 in `ako.js` then it'll try`wstorm /Users/somelady/src/project/ako.js:56` instead of `wstorm /Users/somelady/src/project/ako.js`.
This adds PyCharm's command line launcher, which is named `charm`. There is existing logic to handle other JetBrains editors, so I just did a simple one line addition.
**Test plan (required)**

This changes our xcode setup to use a copy files phase instead.
I've also changed the header include path to be $(BUILT_PRODUCTS_DIR)/include, which is added to the include path by Xcode by default, so 3rd party libraries should not be impacted by these changes anymore.

Currently any React Native apps that target API 23 or greater will crash on the first initial debug/dev build due to the overlay permission.
Sadly there isn't a concrete "request permission" baked into the Marshmallow permission system.
However, we can launch the overlay screen without starting the react app and once its turned on start the app.
- https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/10454 - targetSdkVersion 23 lead crash / App crash for targeting 23+
- https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/10479 - Add the overlay permission information / Larger discussion around targeting API 23+

Fixes#10433
The code didn't account for the fact that cancelLoad is set by two different threads. It gets set on the URL request queue when the request completes successfully and it gets set on the UI queue during cancelation. This oversight lead to a couple of different kinds of crashes.
1. Attempt to invoke a nil function -- We check that cancelLoad is non-nil and on the next line we call it. However, cancelLoad could have been set to nil by the other thread between the time it was verified to be non-nil and the time it was called. Consequently, the program will attempt to call nil and crash.
2. Block deallocated while it's executing -- Suppose cancelLoad points to a block, it is verified to be non-nil, and it is successfully invoked. In the middle of executing the block, cancelLoad, the last reference to the block, is set to nil. This causes the block to be deallocated and its captured values to be freed. However, the block continues executing and the next time it attempts to use a captured value

**Motivation**
This morning I was trying to test on iPhone 7 with iOS 10 so I booted that device and ran "react-native run-ios" expecting it to notice I had a simulator running and install my app to it. Instead it switched my device to the iPhone 6s iOS 9.2. After digging it was found that run-ios did not handle multiple versions of iOS being installed very well when it came to checking for the booted device. This PR resolves that.
**Test plan (required)**
Tests were added for the situation of multiple iOS versions being installed and a slight change to the code was completed to make the new tests pass and continue to keep the old tests passing.

**Motivation**
As NoelBroda pointed out in https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/11104 and https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/11123, NPM often produces an unmet peerDependency when upgrading React Native. It causes a failure when running "npm install" with NPM2.
During the git-upgrade, we have to take care of the `react` peerDep: this PR checks if the installed `react` package matches the `react` peerDep of the new `react-native` version. If so, R & RN are upgraded at the same time (in the same `npm install`).
**Test plan**
- Publish `react-native-git-upgrade` to Sinopia,
- Run `react-native-git-upgrade` inside a RN project with version < 0.37,
- Verify that no "unmet peer dependency" warning is displayed
- Open the `package.json` and verify that both R & RN have been updated

After some time researching I found the right package required by Android Studio [here](http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html).
I tried looking for a more general link (as this points to the JDK version 8 and has a weird path: _jdk8-downloads-2133151.html_ - Sadly this was the best I could find.
I also looked through listed issues to try and find a previous attempt to fix this error but couldn't find any references, sorry if I missed anything.

I don't know enough the ReactAndroid's source code so I don't know if this is correct but I hope it is.
In a recent commit (https://github.com/facebook/react-native/commit/d4b8ae7a8a3de314b5813e0bfcdf5fb265129d43), the `dispatchUpdates` method now returns a boolean to dispatch or not the `onLayout` event. This works well but if the content is unchanged, the line `nativeViewHierarchyOptimizer.handleUpdateLayout(this);` is never called. I don't know if it was intended but it was this which introduces my issue. I called this again even if the content didn't change. This was the behaviour before 0.38 so I guess I didn't break anything.

This kills fastfs in favor of Jest's hasteFS. It gets rid of a ton of code, including the mocking code in ResolutionRequest which we don't need any more. Next step after this is to rewrite HasteMap, ModuleCache, Module/Package. We are getting closer to a nicer and faster world! :)
Here is what I did:
* Use Jest's HasteFS instead of fastfs. A fresh instance is received every time something changes on the FS.
* HasteFS is not shared with everything any more. Only one reference is kept in DependencyGraph and there are a few smaller functions that are passed around (getClosestPackage and dirExists). Note: `dirExists` now does fs access instead of an offline check. This sucks but stat calls aren't slow and aren't going to be a bottleneck in ResolutionRequest, I promise! When it is time to tackle a ResolutionRequest rewrite with jest-resolve, this will go away. "It gets worse before it gets better" :) The ModuleGraph equivalent does *not* do fs access and retains the previous way of doing things because we shouldn't do online fs access there.
* Add flow annotations to ResolutionRequest. This required a few tiny hacks for now because of ModuleGraph's duck typing. I'll get rid of this soon.
* Updated ModuleGraph to work with the new code, also created a mock HasteFS instance there.
* I fixed a few tiny mock issues for `fs` to make the tests work; I had to add one tiny little internal update to `dgraph._hasteFS._files` because the file watching in the tests isn't real. It is instrumented through some function calls, therefore the hasteFS instance doesn't get automatically updated. One way to solve this is to add `JestHasteMap.emit('change', …)` for testing but I didn't want to cut a Jest release just for that. #movefast
(Note: I will likely land this in 1.5 weeks from now after my vacation and I have yet to fully test all the product flows. Please give me feedback so I can make sure this is solid!)

This change introduces the environment variable REACT_NATIVE_DEPENDENCIES which refers to a path. Developers can pre-download all of the ad-hoc dependencies into that path and then the build process will grab the dependencies from that local path rather than trying to download them from the internet. This diff attempts to fix a number of iOS native animation bugs related to improper node invalidation and a race with view creation. The major issues were presented in #9120 as problems 3 and 3b, but I'll recap here:
The invalidation model we use is overly complicated and incomplete. The proper combination of `_needsUpdate` and `_hasUpdated` will result in nodes values being recomputed. However, we do not invalidate nodes in all the places we should, e.g. if we create a new view and attach it to an existing value node (see example in #9120). This diff chooses to remove the `_hasUpdated` flag, and simply relies on the `_needsUpdate` flag to mark a node as dirty.
We mark nodes as dirty when they are:
- created
- updated
- attached to new parents
- detached from old parents
- attached to a view
Calling `updateNodeIfNecessary` will, if necessary, compute all invalidated parent values before recomputing the node value. It will then apply the update, and mark the no

Summary:
This exposes iOS's spellCheckingType functionality to JavaScript. The native functionality is a three state enum. It gets exposed to JavaScript as a boolean. The initial value and JS null map to the third state.
An alternative design for this API would have been to expose a three state enum to JavaScript:
- "on" which maps to UITextSpellCheckingTypeYes
- "off" which maps to UITextSpellCheckingTypeNo
- "auto" (default) which maps to UITextSpellCheckingTypeDefault
For consistency, I decided to use the same API design as spellCheck. We don't have many options for fixing spellCheck in #11055 without introducing a breaking change.
**Test plan (required)**
Verified that switching `spellCheck` between `true`, `false`, and `null` all work correctly in single line and multiline `TextInputs`.

This PR seeks to improve the documentation of PushNotificationIOS.
The method didReceiveRemoteNotification without a fetch completion handler is deprecated by Apple and they [discourage using it](https://developer.apple.com/reference/uikit/uiapplicationdelegate/1623117-application) in favor of the [version with the handler](https://developer.apple.com/reference/uikit/uiapplicationdelegate/1623013-application).
Reasons for this change:
1. Our docs say that this method is required for remote notifications, but it's not. (It's one of possibilities with a recommendation not to use it.)
2. The method is deprecated by Apple and people shouldn't use it.
3. If you use the deprecated method, in 99% of the cases it will behave in a different way from what you'd expect. In particular, you won't get remote notifications when your app is in the background.
As there's no benefit (as far as I know) of using the method, I don't think we should even mention it to the users.

The C++ standard requires that when a function is used in a template it's prototype needs to be defined not only before the template specialization, but also before the template itself.
Because of that one needs to (in certain compilers) be aware of the proper order of includes so that the function prototype is defined before the JSCExecutor.h is included.
As a workaround the toValue might be written as a template (ValueEncoder<T>::toValue) defined in JSCExecutor.h instead of being an non-existing symbol.
Thanks to that the JSCExecutor.h does not have to be included before the specialization of the ValueEncoder template.

This PR removes dependency to Jackson third-party library in Android React Native.
Looking at some older PRs that got merged, it seems like some work had already been done to move away from Jackson.
Anyway, there was only two classes left with a dependency on Jackson. I refactored the code to use android built-in `JsonReader` and `JsonWriter` classes instead.
Prep work was done in https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/10516 introducing a few unit tests around serialization, to make sure that refactoring around serialization would not break things.
All references to Jackson in build systems files (BUCK files & build.gradle) have also been removed now that no code depend anymore on this third-party library.
Motivation behind this work is that third-party dependencies in Android React Native can prove to be a pain when trying to integrate React Native components into an already existing large Android application (I know this is not the most common use case for react-native ... yet ;P), that might a

To make React Native play nicely with our internal build infrastructure we need to properly namespace all of our header includes.
Where previously you could do `#import "RCTBridge.h"`, you must now write this as `#import <React/RCTBridge.h>`. If your xcode project still has a custom header include path, both variants will likely continue to work, but for new projects, we're defaulting the header include path to `$(BUILT_PRODUCTS_DIR)/usr/local/include`, where the React and CSSLayout targets will copy a subset of headers too. To make Xcode copy headers phase work properly, you may need to add React as an explicit dependency to your app's scheme and disable "parallelize build".

On Android, if there is a small amount of space available around a text input (e.g. landscape orientation on a phone), Android may choose to have the user edit the text inside of a full screen text input mode. This behavior isn't always desirable. For example, if your app offers some UI controls for controlling the formatting of the text, you want the controls to be visible while the user is editing the text. This Android feature conflicts with that desired experience because the UI controls would be hidden while the text is being edited.
The `disableExtractUI` prop enables developers to choose whether or not Android's full screen text input editing mode is enabled. When this prop is true, Android's `IME_FLAG_NO_EXTRACT_UI` flag is passed to the `setImeOptions` method.

There's an inconsistency in autoCorrect's default state:
- If you don't specify a value for autoCorrect, it defaults to on.
- If you specify true/false for autoCorrect and later specify null, autoCorrect turns off. It should have reverted to its initial state of on.
The reason for this discrepancy is that autoCorrect is exposed to JS as a boolean but it is actually an enum with three states in native:
- UITextAutocorrectionTypeDefault (the default value)
- UITextAutocorrectionTypeYes
- UITextAutocorrectionTypeNo
This is fixed by explicitly mapping JS null to UITextAutocorrectionTypeDefault.

Virtual shadow nodes (e.g. text) don't use CSSNodes so we don't need to create them. This shows large savings in CSSNodes allocated, depending on the app.
This could be breaking if:
- You have virtual nodes that still set and get CSS properties. The setters now no-op for virtual nodes (I unfortunately couldn't remove them completely -- see the comment on LayoutShadowNode), but the getters will NPE. If you see these NPE's, you should almost definitely be using your own datastructure instead of a CSSNode as virtual nodes will not participate in the layout process (and the CSSNode is then behaving just as a POJO for you).
I do not anticipate this to be breaking for anyone, but am including breaking in the commit message since this is a change in API contract.

The only callsite of `coalesce` looks like this:
```
newEvent.coalesce(oldEvent);
The default `coalesce` implementation returns the event with the most recent timestamp. When the events have the same timestamp then, using the variable names from above, `coalesce` returns `oldEvent`.
This change updates `coalesce`'s implementation to make it explicit that it returns `this` (`newEvent` in the variable names from above) in the case of a tie.
The motivation for this change is related to scroll events. In my team's app, we were seeing scroll events being emitted with the same timestamp and the coalescing logic was causing the oldest scroll event to be chosen. This was causing our JavaScript code to receive stale scroll information and the way the JavaScript code utilized this stale scroll information resulted in the ScrollView settling on the wrong scroll position.
ncuillery Is has a lot of experience with upgrading RN projects (see his [talk](http://www.slideshare.net/ncuillery/introducing-the-new-reactnative-upgrade)) and is rewriting 'react-native upgrade' to use git.
He tells me that we actually want git to merge changes in the .pbxproj file. In his words: "Making the project.pbxproj invisible for "git diff" means that react-native-git-upgrade will never be able to upgrade the project.pbxproj."
Note the git docs explicitly recommend not to use git to merge .pbxproj files: https://git-scm.com/book/en/v2/Customizing-Git-Git-Attributes#Binary-Files
ncuillery do we have an alternative? Some ideas:
1. Use a 3rd-party tool in 'react-native upgrade' to merge the .pbxproj file?
2. We could always re-generate and overwrite the .pbxproj file (never merge) and then run 'react-native link' to update native 3rd-party dependencies in the Xcode project?
3. Last resort: stay away
Moves from CSSNodeDEPRECATED to CSSNode. This has shown to be a huge performance win for layout time within FB.
This is BREAKING because CSSNode contains bug fixes that were not migrated to CSSNodeDEPRECATED which may change the way your layout appears. The most common of these by far involves `flex: 1`.
Previously, developers had to put `flex: 1` in many places it didn't belong in order to work around a bug in css-layout. Now `flex: 1` is treated properly and, unfortunately, this means that your layout may no longer look correct. Specifically, you may see that your layout looks collapsed, or children don't render. The fix is to simply remove `flex: 1` from those containers.
Following up on https://github.com/facebook/react-native/commit/fb7fe2d4e8783232c73fc48b29ad63400a8b3420: when <Modal> is used in dev mode, it renders `<AppContainer>` to wrap the children so that the element inspector can show up correctly. In that scenario, we need pass the `rootTag` over the `<AppContainer>` so that the children can read the rootTag correctly. Otherwise, the children of <Modal> will see it as undefined.
With this, AppContainer can then declare `rootTag` as a required prop, as it should have been.
Note that this only affects DEV build because there's no AppContainer wrapping otherwise.
This is the next incremental step to rewrite node-haste. I apologize for the size of this diff but there is really no smaller way to do this. The current architecture passes a single file watcher instance into many classes that each subscribe to file changes. It's really hard to keep track of this. The new implementation reduces the listeners to two (will eventually be just one!) - one in DependencyGraph and one in it's parent's parent's parent (ugh! This doesn't make any sense). This should make it much more straightforward to understand what happens when a file changes.
I was able to remove a bunch of tests because jest's watcher takes care of things like ignore patterns. Some of the tests were specifically testing for whether the change events were invoked and they are now much more straightforward as well by manually invoking the `processFileChange` methods.
There was a bug in the view clipping logic.
Clipping works on uiview hierarchy, but I've been using `reactSuperview` to get clipping rect for my parent.
This is incorrect in a case where these two hierarchies don't match and there are some views between a view and its `reactSuperview`.
So we should really use normal `superview`. A minor complication is that `superview` is `nil` if we are clipped.
We could remember what our last `superview` was, but that's extra data we have to manage. Instead I use one clever trick to avoid doing so.
When building a native component which takes an image reference as a prop, `resolveAssetSource` needs to be called on the image reference. If this isn't done, the native component may receive the opaque type returned by `require` (e.g. `require('./foo.png')`) which is useless to the native component. `resolveAssetSource` is used by builtin components that take image references such as `Image`, `WebView` and `MapView`.
This change makes `resolveAssetSource` public so that third-party native components can correctly handle image references.
This PR provides a workaround for issue #9605 which affects projects which directly or indirectly require `whatwg-fetch`. At that point, all symbolication on stack trace errors fails due to a circular require caused by RN's lazy loading of `fetch`, which results in `fetch` becoming `undefined`.
The workaround is simple: we postpone requiring `fetch` until the first `symbolicateStackTrace` call, at which point we can be certain `fetch` is properly exported. It is then cached for future use.
No tests have been added since, apparently, this module did not have any tests to begin with. Manual tests were performed on a regular project (not including `whatwg-fetch` externally) and a project that has direct and indirect includes for `whatwg-fetch`.
Currently, to generate a `Release` build in `Android` it is required to get into the `android` directory and run the `react native bundle`with a lot of options and after that run the `gradle` to assemble or install the application with the build type `Release`.
This PR improves the process adding that feature to the `React Native CLI`.
To generate a release build is only required to use the parameter `--configuration` with the value `Release`.
**Examples**
To generate a release build:
```sh
react-native run-android --configuration release
```
To generate a release build for the product flavors staging:
```sh
react-native run-android --configuration release --flavor staging
```
To generate a debug build:
```
To generate a debug build for the product flavors staging:
```sh
This PR tells babel where the babelrc file is if it has been found in the project root. I know you guys are relying on babel to find it when you tell babel the filename and sourceFilename, this works fine in normal js/node projects, here is an example where this will not work.
We have a big repo that can contain a few react-native / js projects. Our build system is similar to BUCK and we keep our third party dependencies in a separate folder (having a global package.json at the project route is not feasible as everyone will have to install every apps dependencies even when they don't need them), the structure looks a bit like this:
`third_party/js/.` packages from node_modules
`common/js/` common code used by numerous apps, common components, services etc.
`my_app/native` the app
What's happening is something from `my_app/native` (where the .babelrc file is) is requiring something from `common/js` which is then requiring something from `third_party/js` and so babel has no idea what .babelrc file to use and
This pull request exposes the `setAllowUniversalAccessFromFileURLs` method of Android WebViewSettings as a property. Fixes#4740, where views would unnecessarily be retained after performing `navigator.pop()` - this was particularly problematic for big lists and memory-intensive custom views.
This fix causes no functional change: `_previousViews` are only used in the loop starting at line 564 to ensure that the JavaScript and Native navigation stacks are equivalent at all times. As we do in this fix, that loop limits itself to only the views expected to be on the React navigation stack. So overall this change makes the code logically 'more correct'.
Tested by checking that `_previousViews.count` is always equivalent to `previousReactCount` in the loop (which means we could remove the complex `MIN(... MIN(previousReactCount, _previousViews.count)` in the loop too, but I wanted to keep the diff as small as possible for now).
However, if that class had overriden measure, then the jmethodid would be specific to that subclass's implementation and would not work for other classes. Conversely, if a regular CSSNode had been called first, then the super method would be called on the subclass instead of the proper overriden method.
Since there's not really a reason to overriden measure anyway (since you can just provide a different measure function), it's safest to just mark it final and explicitly cache the appropriate methodid
Summary:
This does 2 things:
- modernize the component to use ES6 + flow
- assign `rootTag` to the child context
Each view in RN has its own `reactTag`. The reactTag for a root view is called `rootTag`. When there are multiple react root views active within the app (e.g. in a hybrid environment), rootTag is the only reliable "label" to differentiate them. This is especially useful when we want to limit an event/activity on a particular root view, instead of affecting all active root views. This allows components to do:
```
class Foo extends React.Component {
static contextTypes = {
rootTag: React.PropTypes.number,
};
componentDidMount() {
// Get the root tag of this component, which is static for all components under the same root view
console.log(this.context.rootTag);
}
}
```
In a pure JS RN app environment, there will always be exactly 1 root view, so `rootTag` may usually be ignored.
Lots of dependencies (including every `babel-*`) use `lodash@4`, by having `lodash@3` as a root dependency, each package had to have it's own copy of `lodash@4`. Now, there's only one.
The uses of `lodash` in RN are restricted to the CLI/packager, and the uses are pretty basic. The breaking APIs don't really seem to affect us https://github.com/lodash/lodash/wiki/Changelog#v400.
`NavigationCardStackPanResponder` uses `__getValue` and the `stopAnimation` callback value which both doesn't work with native driven animation. The workaround here is to add a value listener so the JS value of the AnimatedValue gets updated too so `__getValue` has a relatively up to date value. Since native and non-native animations do not work together check if the animated value is native and set useNativeDriver accordingly. So untill we move to always using the native driver this is needed. This and another fix in NativeAnimations module will allow using native animations to transitions with gestures.
**Test plan**
Tested in an app that uses native driven animations with a back gesture. This also needs #10643 and #10642 for everything to work properly.
Check that 'react-native init' itself used yarn to install React Native.
When using an old global react-native-cli@1.0.0 (or older), we don't want to install React Native with npm, and React + Jest with yarn. Let's be safe and not mix yarn and npm in a single project.
**Test plan**
Publish the code in this PR to Sinopia, use that when creating a new project.
Using old CLI:
npm install -g react-native-cli@1.0.0
react-native init AwesomeApp
The generated project doesn't contain `yarn.lock` (everything was installed with the npm client).
---
Using new CLI:
npm install -g react-native-cli@1.2.0
react-native init AwesomeApp
The generated project contains `yarn.lock`, output shows that yarn is used to install React Native, React, Jest.
---
In both cases the project runs and Reload JS works:
Summary:
The new Packager/Buck integration passes module factory functions as first argument, so that the complete call can be amended at the end safely at a later point in time.
The call expression as a whole is covered perfectly by the created source map. Appending to that code later won’t break mappings.
`__d` now also accepts an additional `dependencyMap` parameter, which so far is only used by the new Packager/Buck integration. It enables module-local dependency IDs, thus eliminating the need to insert `correct` module IDs when building a bundle. Advantages are that source maps are no longer affected, and that builds can be quicker.
It is actively maintained and used extensively (9.2k installs / month, see [JS.Coach](https://js.coach/react-native/react-native-maps?search=react-native-maps)).
We think now is a good time to switch to react-native-maps in your applications and make `react-native-maps` the official `<MapView>` implementation for React Native.
We are going to release the deprecated `<MapView>` as a separate npm module so you can migrate to `react-native-maps` at your own pace.
I'm working on a project that uses React Native and needs to add direct synchronous bindings to native stuff through the JavaScriptCore C API. This is because it's performance-sensitive and would benefit from the quickest JS->C path. It does this using cross-platform C++ code that works on both iOS and Android. Most of the infrastructure for getting access to the JSC context is already in React Native actually, just had to add a few more things.
I'm not familiar with the react native testing framework. Happy to add a test for this if someone can point me to where this part of the codebase is exercised :)
I did some spot checks with nil user dictionaries and nil underlying errors here. The case that this solves is testable using https://github.com/superseriouscompany/react-native-error-repro, specifically:
```objective-c
NSError *underlyingError = [NSError errorWithDomain:@"underlyingDomain" code:421 userInfo:nil];
NSError *err = [NSError errorWithDomain:@"domain" code:68 userInfo:@{@"NSUnderlyingError": underlyingError}];
reject(@"foo", @"bar", err);

We use ReactNativeART in our Android project.

We had a classic integer underflow problem here. Before we would let you type endlessly when the text already exceeded the TextInput maxLength, now we only let you erase characters.
There is still a small problem with the TextInput: how do you handle when the value (set from JS) exceeds the maxLength? This could happen pragmatically, just by passing in a very large value or when changing maxLength (e.g. when changing from 4 to 3 digits in the case of a AMEX security code -> VISA security code).
Me and achen1 discussed firing onChange in these cases and truncating the number manually (to ensure JS's data model) was aware of the change but it seemed fraught with bugs and general weirdness in what the caller would expect to happen.

With nested NavigatorIOS components:
```
<NavigatorIOS initialRoute={{
component: ComponentWithAnotherNavigatorIOSInSubtree
title: 'xyz'
}}>
```
Navigating (via push etc.) in ComponentWithAnotherNavigatorIOSInSubtree's `navigator` caused an invariant error, making apps with this structure unusable. The reason was that the `navigationComplete` nativeEvent was being propagated to the outer Navigator due to React's automatic event bubbling, making the outer NavigatorIOS incorrectly think it was holding navigation stack state inconsistent with its native UINavigationController.
Concretely, if the outer navigation stack is empty except for its initial state and something is pushed onto the inner stack, the outer NavigatorIOS suddenly complains that it has 2 items on its stack rather than 1. In reality, the outer Navigator still only has 1 item on its stack but the inner Navigator's event (containing information about the inner Navigator) incorrectly bubbles up and reaches the outer Navigator too.

Summary:
In xcode, you can modify the Product Name per build configuration. During the build, the app file name is made using that value. For example, I name my app "MyApp Dev", it will build into "MyApp Dev.app".
react-native run-ios doesn't extract the proper app name. Instead it uses the scheme name + ".app". So if in the example above I use the default Scheme "MyApp", which references the build configuration whose name is "MyApp Dev". The build will succeed, but when runIOS.js goes to run the app, it fails because the file name doesn't exist.
My fix parses the build output and extracts the app name from the line "export FULL_PRODUCT_NAME=$(appfilename)" and uses that instead of the scheme. If there is any issue parsing, the scheme name is used like it currently is.
**Test plan (required)**
1) Change the Product Name in xcode project manager to be something different than the scheme name.
2) Run react-native run-ios and ensure it works.

As far as I can tell, there is no way to ensure the Activity exists since the `ReactContext` holds a `WeakReference` to the current Activity and it appears that the lifecycle calls are happening in the right order (so not the same as #9310).
This will at least allow people to catch the error in JS and update the UI or try again as opposed to crashing the app.

As of Swift 3, [Swift converts Objective-C API names based on parameters](https://github.com/apple/swift-evolution/blob/master/proposals/0005-objective-c-name-translation.md), so the docs should explicitly declare what the Objective-C API is (because it's also used in the JavaScript side too).
An alternative to this would be to update the Objective-C and JavaScript calls to be `addEventWithName:location:date:` / `addEventWithName()` based on the default Swift API, but I think the approach in the PR is most correct here.

Summary:
We got a report that onContentSizeChange function was being called with an object instead of a number for width, sometimes. Upon debugging, it looked like the param being passed in was a native event wrapper. Tim eventually figured out that this is because there's a TextInput child, and the event bubbles: diffusion/FBS/browse/master/fbobjc/Libraries/FBReactKit/js/react-native-github/Libraries/Text/RCTTextViewManager.m;afbdef32df50$39
Because ScrollView just passes all its props down to the component it eventually renders (RCTScrollView on iOS), the TextInput event bubbles up and triggers the onContentSizeChange prop that was passed in directly, instead of going through the layer in ScrollView that normally unpacks width/height from the native event: diffusion/FBS/browse/master/fbobjc/Libraries/FBReactKit/js/react-native-github/Libraries/Components/ScrollView/ScrollView.js;247ddb2022151b68dd9f83a888b6e0ec9923737a$413-416
Overriding the prop before passing down to RCTScrollView will break that chain, so that the event will continue to bubble but it won't find the incorrect prop from ScrollView.

Button is an important component to help the community get onboarded with RN quickly, so the first few minutes of a developer's experience is not spent formatting a simple button component.
In my opinion, `<Button />` should be seen as a "lowest common demoniator" component, rather than "the one button to rule them all". In other words, we should only support features in Button that will work on any platform. We should encourage people to fork Button if they need to add specific features to it, rather than trying to twist and bloat this component until it supports everything.
These platform imitations may not have the perfect constants just yet, but they are good enough to make a user feel at home in the app, without any modification. The community can help tweak the final formatting to make them look just right- PRs are welcome!

Apps in the "featured" list will be held to the same standards established this past summer (funded startup or public company + engineering blog post on RN / news article from established company).

Note that pinned and featured apps are displayed together in the main showcase without any separation. Pinned apps will appear first in an arbitrary order, followed by featured apps in alphabetical order. Future PRs may address how apps are displayed in the main Showcase itself.

This commit adds favicon (blue react logo in a white circle). It's a super minor change, but would help a lot with day-to-day DX.
I chose this icon to differentiate sufficiently from other tabs developer might have open: React docs (blue logo in black square) and React Native docs (white logo in black square). The idea is for the client to send `Accept: multipart/mixed` header, and if present the server will stream progress events to the client. This will ensure the change is backwards-compatible - the clients who don't know about progress events won't receive them.
In the future we can use this approach to download RAM bundle modules in one request.

Summary:
Packager can take a long time to load and the progress is usually displayed in another window (Terminal). I'm adding support for showing a UI inside React Native app for packager's progress when loading a bundle.
This is how it will work:
1. React Native sends request to packager with `Accept: multipart/mixed` header.
2. Packager will detect that header to detect that client supports progress events and will reply with `Content-Type: multipart/mixed`.
3. While building the bundle it will emit chunks with small metadata (like `{progress: 0.3}`). In the end it will send the last chunk with the content of the bundle.
4. RN runtime will be receiving the events, for each progress event it will update the UI. The last chunk will be the actual bundle which will end the download process.
This workflow is totally backwards-compatible -- normally RN doesn't set the `Accept` header.

Android (starting from API 23) supports "light status bar", thus it is possible to extend StatusBar and make `barStyle` property work not only for iOS, but also for Android.
This PR introduces one more `barStyle` option `dark-content` in addition to two existing ones (`default` and `light-content`).
Why there are 3 options instead of 2?
Two simple reasons:
1) to make all existing applications fully compatible with these changes;
2) the default status bar on Android is dark with white text and icons, while on iOS it is light with black text and icons on it. Thus the `default` option means something like "I don't really care, just apply the default color for this platform", while two other options (`light-content` and `dark-content`) allow to accurately specify the required result.

This PR is related to the multitude of crashes (#10016, #9751, #9882).
From my understanding, we should be using a strong reference when calling `decodeImageData` or we could be calling the method on a deallocated instance.
PR #9751 have mitigated this by adding a fail-safe, but I think the culprint is the weak reference, which this PR fixes.
Tested on iOS only, since it doesn't touch Android.

Summary:
This changes modal behavior to resize when the keyboard appears/disappears.
Previously, the modal would not react in any way, or it would pan above to bring the
TextInput into view. Resizing is the correct behavior for android.
This is not trivial, as in, setting the flag, because of the combination of
react native laying out all views and the system reacting to the keyboard
appearance in a weird way. Namely:
- if `windowTranslucentStatus` is not set, the system will just call
`onSizeChanged` on the dialog's content view, and everything works nicely
- with `windowTranslucentStatus` set, the system will consider the dialog as a
full screen view that doesn't resize. In order for it to resize, the base
view of the layout needs to have
`setFitsSystemWindows(true)` called on it. This is needed, so that the system
can call layout on that base view with the new value of `paddingBottom` that
coincides with the height of the keyboard. Neat.
We fix this by wrapping our existing content view (mHostView) in a simple
FrameLayout that has `setFitsSystemWindows` set. That way, `mHostView` will have
`onSizeChanged` called on itself with the correct new size of the dialog.
This has the fortunate consequence of our layout now also getting `paddingTop` as the size of the
status bar, which means that we can remove the JS `top` hack in Modal, which
was necessary for no view getting drawn under the status bar.
This behavior is set as default, since that is the default correct Android behavior.

While it is emitted in `Navigator#resetTo`, `Navigator#push`, `Navigator#pop` and event `Navigator#replaceAtIndex` it is not emitted from `Navigator#immediatelyResetRouteStack`. This leads to surprising inconsistencies when working with these events.
With the PR I suggest to emit the `willfocus` event before resetting the route stack.

Summary:
`ReactSwipeRefreshLayout` extends `SwipeRefreshLayout` which does not play nice with Android's touch handling system.
There are two problems:
1. `SwipeRefreshLayout` overrides and swallows `requestDisallowInterceptTouchEvent`, which means that Views underneath the `SwipeRefreshLayout` will not interact correctly with parent Views of
`SwipeRefreshLayout`. We've seen this in practice by H-ScrollViews having their touches intercepted by an enclosing ViewPager. This is fixed by passing `requestDisallowInterceptTouchEvent` up to the parents of `SwipeRefreshLayout`.
2. `SwipeRefreshLayout` overrides `onInterceptTouchEvent` and never calls `super.onInterceptTouchEvent`, therefore ignoring the value of `disallowIntercept`. That means that it will intercept some touches when it
shouldn't. One such case is again the H-ScrollView, which should receive all horizontal scrolls and stop `SwipeRefreshLayout` from intercepting any touch events after scrolling. Currently, after the H-ScrollView starts scrolling, it is still possible to get the `SwipeRefreshLayout` to detect and emit refresh events. This is fixed by checking and blocking on horizontal scrolls.

Summary:
Combining 2 animated values via addition, multiplication, and modulo are already supported, and this adds another one: division.
There are some cases where an animated value needs to invert (1 / x) another animated value for calculation. An example is inverting a scale (2x --> 0.5x), e.g.:
```
const a = Animated.Value(1);
const b = Animated.divide(1, a);
Animated.spring(a, {
toValue: 2,
}).start();
```
`b` will then follow `a`'s spring animation and produce the value of `1 / a`.
The basic usage is like this:
```
<Animated.View style={{transform: [{scale: a}]}}>
<Animated.Image style={{transform: [{scale: b}]}} />
<Animated.View>
```
In this example, the inner image won't get stretched at all because the parent's scaling gets cancelled out.
Also added this to native animated implementation.

This fixes measuring of items in the main axis of a container. Previously items were in a lot of cases measured with UNSPECIFIED instead of AT_MOST. This was to support scrolling containers. The correct way to handle scrolling containers is to instead provide them with their own overflow value to activate this behavior. This is also similar to how the web works.
This is a breaking change. Most of your layouts will continue to function as before however some of them might not. Typically this is due to having a `flex: 1` style where it is currently a no-op due to being measured with an undefined size but after this change it may collapse your component to take zero size due to the implicit `flexBasis: 0` now being correctly treated. Removing the bad `flex: 1` style or changing it to `flexGrow: 1` should solve most if not all layout issues your see after this diff.

Summary:
When debugging in VScode or nucleide using a nodejs environment rather than chrome, the JS sources are made to appear as if they exist on disk, rather than coming from a `http://` url. Prior to this change the packager would see these file paths and not know how to handle them.
Since all the application JS will be part of a bundle file, we can switch out the path to the bundle on the filesystem with paths to the bundle served by the packager, and things will work just as though it was debugging in chrome. We stop the replacement once we reach an internal module (`vm.js` in the case of both nucleide and VSCode) since that is the point when the execution switches from inside the app to the surrounding debugging environment.
I've verified that this fixes redbox stack trace symbolication in VSCode, and from my understanding of nucleide's debugging environment it should also work there without requiring any changes.

Hi,
This PR fixes the problem described by chrisnojima in https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/9581#issuecomment-243766310
**Test plan**
In development mode,
- Run an app with an image: `<Image source={ require('./logo.png') }/>`
- Notice that you see the following in packager console:
```txt
6:46:42 PM] <START> processing asset request logo.png
[6:46:42 PM] <END> processing asset request logo.png (1ms)
```
- Reload the app, or navigate to another page of the app with the same image
- Notice that you see again:
```txt
6:47:23 PM] <START> processing asset request logo.png
[6:47:23 PM] <END> processing asset request logo.png (1ms)
```
Now wih the fix applied,
notice that you only see `logo.png` fetched once, even if you reload or show the same image in a different part of the app.
Let me know what you think.

This adds support for `Animated.event` driven natively. This is WIP and would like feedback on how this is implemented.
At the moment, it works by providing a mapping between a view tag, an event name, an event path and an animated value when a view has a prop with a `AnimatedEvent` object. Then we can hook into `EventDispatcher`, check for events that target our view + event name and update the animated value using the event path.
For now it works with the onScroll event but it should be generic enough to work with anything.

commit eb3360b02a recently break some third libraries that was (weakly) relying on traversing `animatedNode.refs.node` to get the original node of the decorated (animated) component (at least 2 libs: gl-react-native and react-native-material-kit).
Instead of now doing `animatedNode._component` (that might later break again), getNode() is a more 'public' solution for these third party.
as you expose a way to create an animated component (`createAnimatedComponent`) you sometimes still want a way to get the reference.
That way, third party components can continue providing some extra native methods to the animated version.

Summary:
The issue here is that on some devices (ie. Nexus 5X), under certain
circumstances, the text gets trimmed. A simple example is P56651885, where the
text is at the end of the line and some padding is set. Digging further with
P56659346, I found that only the paddings that have integer pixel values work
correctly: these are the values P56656483, and this is the screenshot of that
test: {F63510378}.
It turns out that when we set the padding directly on the TextView, we have to
convert from float to int, and use `ceil` in the process. We lose some precision
here, since the csslayout will use the float values to compute the layout of the
views. The ideal solution would be to just set the float values on the TextView,
but since we can't do that, we should avoid using `ceil` instead of `floor`
since it can have bad side-effects in some scenarios.
Going way back to D1881202 and D1710471, we started using `ceil` because that
is how android handles non-integer
density ratios: "This figure is the factor by which you should multiply the dp
units on order to get the actual pixel count for the current screen. (Then add
0.5f to round the figure up to the nearest whole number, when converting to an
integer.)", see https://developer.android.com/guide/practices/screens_support.html.

PROBLEM: the no-longer-maintained `esprima-fb` parser does not support class properties, leading our website docgen to die if we use class properties, which we're gonna do real soon now
SOLUTION: use `flow-parser` instead, which the flow team is maintaining including all the fancy-pants ES? stuff that FB uses internally.
This removes the `esprima-fb` parser from jsdocs and replaces it with `flow-parser`. It's almost the same, I checked by diffing all the parser json output and it only had a few irrelevant differences. I had to add a file of constants so that we could remove esprima-fb altogether, too.
This also adds a couple unit tests, so that we can test that jsDocs works programmatically. They don't run if you run the regular RN tests, you have to run `npm test` from the `/website/` subdirectory.

- allows to specify multiple entry points

Summary:
This automatically changes the size of the modal by listening to dialog size changes and propagating
those changes through UIManager.
In detail: I've looked into three ways of doing this:
1. Send `onSizeChanged` events/info from the View to the CSSNode directly. This is kinda hacky because you would need to hold a reference to the CSSNode somewhere, either in the View or in the ViewManager. But then you'll have to take care of the lifecycle of the CSSNode, so that you don't update it after it has been dismissed. Not great.
2. The version we went for, is to just update the size of the corresponding CSSNode in the same way we do it for root nodes: we inform the UIManager that the size of the root node has changed, and it will propagate that change, triggering a `dispatchViewUpdates` if none is underway, so that the layout is updated.
3. The other solution we thought of is to treat the Modal as a root view. This would mean rendering an application with the tag of the Modal as the root of the application. That tag would be received by calling some method into UIManager and ReactModalHostManager to create a new RootView, create a Dialog and plop the root view in it. The idea was to maintain the JS API that we now have, but make the implementation more correct (ie. since both RootView and the Modal must deal with touch handling), and could have other benefits (ie. no hacks necessary for making the inspector work on top of modals). However, the change is not trivial and I don't know just how much code would have to be changed to make this work correctly. We might revisit this at a later stage, after we've done more work on having several root views at the same time in the app.
