* Improve autogen for reference docs including jsdoc support
Summary:
As part of improving the API and Component reference docs #8154 this pull request adds the following:
- jsdoc support for API docs. See the AlertIOS changes as an example.
- type definitions support and added to both API and Component docs. This is supported via react-docgen and jsdoc.
- better formatting of method properties (now shown in a table).
FYI, API and Component docs were previously generated in two different ways. Components were using react-docgen and that basically remains as-is. APIs were using custom parsing code and that's been switched to use a jsdoc parser + react-docgen as an option for typedefs (it could also use the jsdoc parser).
Two docs have been updated to showcase how we'd like the new docs to look:
- AlertIOS (API): showing method parameters, examples, typedefs, more details overall.
- Statusbar (Component): showing method parameters, typedefs, more details overall.
**Note**: To convert new API docs to use the new format, add `jsdoc` to the initial file comment. C

* Add react-native-web-player to core components docs
Summary:
This PR adds the interactive [React Native Web Player](http://dabbott.github.io/react-native-web-player/) to the docs. The web player is an embeddable iframe which runs React Native code using components from [react-native-web](https://github.com/necolas/react-native-web). For now, it's primarily for educational purposes, since only the basic components are implemented.
Some details:
- The iframe is loaded from MaxCDN using rawgit, locked down to a git tag.
- Asset paths (i.e. images) are resolved relative to `//facebook.github.io/react-native/`
- When viewed on mobile, it falls back to the syntax-highlighted code blocks.
The WebPlayer can be inserted into markdown by using the fences:
```
* Networking Guide
Summary:
Simplified Networking Guide, based on the old Network polyfill doc.
This guide strongly recommends using fetch, while still informing the user about React Native's support for other libraries.
In order to provide an actual working networking example, a `movies.json` file is added at the root of the site, allowing the user to fetch a small blob of JSON:
```
fetch('http://facebook.github.io/react-native/movies.json')
```
* Move Component Embedded Simulator next to its example
Summary:
Right now the embedded simulator is always at the top right corner.
This can be confusing as to what code is associated with the simulation.
So, move the simulator next to its actual code.
Summary:
Related to #8203 to update the Modal API reference doc.
**Test plan (required)**
Started up the website and checked:
http://localhost:8079/react-native/docs/modal.html
**Note, copied from a previous PR**
The code is not Flow-ified so depended on jsdoc formatting to get the method parameter types. There's a current issue with handling optional types via react-docgen which parses components. There's an open PR to look into this: https://github.com/reactjs/react-docgen/pull/89. When that's resolved the `replaceAtIndex` method parameter type that's documented for `cb` needs to be updated to make it optional.
When an asset is included in a module, and the directory for that asset can't be found in any of the roots, it is hard to debug that, because the error message contains neither the name of the requested file, the sub directory it is located in, nor the roots that have been searched for it. It becomes more difficult, because that exception is created asynchronously. It contains the calling promise code.
This diff makes the error message more useful by including the name of the file, the sub directory, and the roots.
ImageView will now interrogate fresco cache for images that can be shown before
the one with the best fitting size is downloaded. Cache interrogation does not
take into account that the images from cache are smaller or bigger than the best
fit. Most of the cases, the smaller one will be displayed. It is also possible
that a bigger image is available for being displayed, but ideally we'd still
want the best fit to be shown, so as to not decode and resize images that are
too big.
I've added a ImageSource class to simplify things. This makes it easier to
lazy-parse the Uri's when necessary, and cache data related to that uri
and wether the image is local. This also gets rid of the Map, which makes
parsing the source a bit more elegant.
Summary:
We currently have iOS and Android existing app integration guides. I have revamped these into a single tutorial, with three sections: Objective-C, Swift and Android.
For Objective-C and and Swift, the tutorial is now based on a more real world app - integrating a React Native-based high score screen into a 2048 app.
For expediency to get the iOS stuff out, for Android, *for now*, I have kept the existing documentation (with minor updates), but am planning to try to follow the same 2048 model for it as well.
This uses the same toggler as Getting Started
> I do note the copypasta of the toggler code. I am planning another separate pull request to make that more modular and reusable across all areas of the documentation on which it seems reasonable.
Summary:
This moves into open source the PermissionsModule and the activity and listener interfaces
necessary to make permissions work.
It also moves the PermissionsExample into the UIExplorer. In order to make this
work, the device has to be Android M and above, and the target sdk of the app has to be 23+, so I changed the uiexplorer manifest to
target that API. This has the unfortunate consequence that people testing on
devices with API 23+ will have to enable the `draw over other apps` setting that
react needs for RedBoxing. The app will automatically send the user to that screen,
so enabling the setting and resuming the app should be trivial.
For testing, try requesting permission for a permission that is currently
revoked. If a permission is granted, it can be revoked via adb (`adb shell pm
revoke com.your.app android.permission.PERMISSION_NAME`), and then requested.
This also seems to happen sometimes when building RN, see for instance: https://www.google.nl/search?q=site%3Atravis-ci.org%2Ffacebook%2Freact-native%20CGContextSaveGState%20invalid%20context
Our guess is that at some point, the CGContextRef is autoreleased. We tried retaining the ref first, but eventually settled for pushing/popping the context as it never fails in our tests (retaining still causes seemingly unrelated failures).
We're not sure if we can provide a testplan for this change, as the FBSnapshotTestController is not tested separately.
Lots of examples on the web still have the old way to import React APIs from React Native. Also when someone upgrades to latest version of React Native without reading the release notes can get confused. This PR adds getters for `createClass` and `Component` and throws an error with a better error message when they are accessed.
**Test plan:**
Trying to use `ReactNative.createClass` or `ReactNative.Component` will throw an error with this error message.
There's currently a bug in `symbolicateStackTrace` which actually crashes the app after showing the error due to the `stack` being null when updating the stack trace. But that's a separate issue which should be fixed separately. For now, to prevent the crash, we need to add the following before the return statement here - https://github.com/facebook/react-native/blob/master/Libraries/JavaScriptAppEn
Re: javache 's suggestions from https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/7878. Didn't want to deal with the merge conflict so I'm opening a separate PR. Here's the original justification:
If I want to set NODE_ENV to "baconator", I should be allowed to. Mutating global state that most devs assume to be immutable is just abysmal dev practice, especially since this mutation only happens when you're building for prod, not running on the simulator.
To test this, run env NODE_ENV=baconator ./gradlew assembleRelease with babel-plugin-transform-inline-environment-variables in your app/.babelrc. You'll see that the final app has NODE_ENV=production.
As a side note, running with babel-plugin-transform-inline-environment-variables in the top-level .babelrc crashes horribly with a compiler error.
For anybody who runs into this bug and doesn't feel like waiting for this to get merged, I wrote a quick babel plugin to remove assignments to process.env, which is sufficient to fix this issue.
To do this I separated `_removeChildren` into 2 different functions, one for animated delete and one for normal delete. The animated one returns an array of `RCTComponent` that are going to be animated. We can then use this array to offset the insert index.
Remove prop `onNavigate` from these views.
- NavigationAnimatedView
- NavigationCardStack
- NavigationCard
Also, the `sceneProps` onject that is passed to the `renderScene` function
no longer contains `onNavigate`.
The contract that `onNavigate` expects has been vague. Different data flow
system may expect complete different params for such function
For instance,
* onNavigate({type: 'back'});
* onNavigate({type: 'BACK'});
* onNavigate('back'});
We have no intention to unify such generic API since it's more likely to be
constrained by the data flow frameworks such as redux or flux.
Also, passing the prop `onNavigate` all the way down to the component that
invokes the navigation action can be really tedious. We'd expect developer
to either pass such callback (onNavigate) via context or just set up some
kind of static actions that any component can call directly.
`onNavigate` was previously added as a part of (redux-like) reducers-friendly
feature but that's no longer the case.
This new prop `onNavigateBack` is used to explicitly handle the case when the back button or back gesture
is performed.
Under rare and as-yet-to-be determined circumstances, images can sometimes fail to load/download and get "stuck", without producing an error.
Because the `RCTNetworkTask` for these images is stuck in the "in progress" state, they clog up the RCTImageLoader task queue, which has a limit of 4 concurrent in-progress tasks.
This was previously masked by the fact that we automatically cancelled image requests when the RCTImageView moved offscreen, but we no longer do that.
This diff adds logic to detect some types of stuck task and remove them, thereby unblocking the queue. I've also restored the functionality of cancelling downloads for offscreen images (but not unloading the image itself) so that stuck images will be cancelled when you move to another screen, instead of using up space in the queue forever.
When we hit the back button and unmount the ReactRootView, we tell JS to unmount the application root node, which causes JS to asynchronously come back and tell the UIManager to drop the corresponding root view.
This issue was that by the time JS gets back to us, we likely will have already paused the UIManager frame callback which means the view unmounting never actually happens: it just gets stuck in the queue.
The solution is to immediately execute batches when they are enqueued when the frame callback isn't running.
know anything about the app-specific state thus people won't use these reducers.
Instead, people should build their own reducers.
There are a lot of good libraries available that help people to reducing things if that's
what they really need.
At the low level, for navigation state changes that don't involve app-specific state,
`NavigationStateUtils` should server that kind of need.
`NavigationReducers` serves little benefit cause it does not know the app state, it does
not know how to traverse the navigation states which can be a tree, a list or a map.
That said, we hold no interest in owning in the core navigation library.
This diff implement the CSS z-index for React Native iOS views. We've had numerous pull request for this feature, but they've all attempted to use the `layer.zPosition` property, which is problematic for two reasons:
1. zPosition only affects rendering order, not event processing order. Views with a higher zPosition will appear in front of others in the hierarchy, but won't be the first to receive touch events, and may be blocked by views that are visually behind them.
2. when using a perspective transform matrix, views with a nonzero zPosition will be rendered in a different position due to parallax, which probably isn't desirable.
See https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/7825 for further discussion of this problem.
So instead of using `layer.zPosition`, I've implemented this by actually adjusting the order of the subviews within their parent based on the zIndex. This can't be done on the JS side because it would affect layout, which is order-dependent, so I'm doing it inside the view itself.
It works as follows:
1. The `reactSubviews` array is set, whose order matches the order of the JS components and shadowView components, as specified by the UIManager.
2. `didUpdateReactSubviews` is called, which in turn calls `sortedSubviews` (which lazily generates a sorted array of `reactSubviews` by zIndex) and inserts the result into the view.
3. If a subview is added or removed, or the zIndex of any subview is changed, the previous `sortedSubviews` array is cleared and `didUpdateReactSubviews` is called again.
To demonstrate it working, I've modified the UIExplorer example from https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/7825
React has some internal code related only to React Native.
Some times React needs to update them which will result in a breaking change for React Native but it would not be a breaking change for React public API, so no major version bump will happen.
It means that a non breaking API bump may result in a break for React Native.
That is why React Native should not depend on a ^ of React version.
However React is a peer dependency to React Native and we want to give some flexibility to users to update React independently, so we don't fix the version strict and use ~ to allow patches.
This will be fixed once we extract RN specific code from React into an independent dependency.
This diff refactors the view update process into two stages:
1. The `reactSubviews` array is set, whose order matches the order of the JS components and shadowView components, as specified by the UIManager.
2. The `didUpdateReactSubviews` method is called, which actually inserts the reactSubviews into the view hierarchy.
This simplifies a lot of the hacks we had for special-case treatment of subviews: In many cases we don't want to actually insert `reactSubviews` into the parentView, and we had a bunch of component-specific solutions for that (typically overriding all of the reactSubviews methods to store views in an array). Now, we can simply override the `didUpdateReactSubviews` method for those views to do nothing, or do something different.
RCTShadowText currently explicitly defaults to black text color:
https://github.com/facebook/react-native/blob/d46ac11/Libraries/Text/RCTShadowText.m#L204
However, the UITextView used by RCTTextInput doesn't explicitly default to black text color.
This causes issues when RCTTextInput is in rich text editing mode (i.e. when the <TextInput> element uses child <Text> nodes to provide extra styling info) and the client doesn't provide us with any explicit color info. In this case, the following series of badness occurs:
1. -[UITextView attributedText] will return an attributed string without the NSColor property set.
2. -[RCTShadowText attributedString] will return an attributed string with NSColor equal to blackColor.
3. The `[_textView.attributedText isEqualToAttributedString:_pendingAttributedText]` check in -performPendingTextUpdate will fail and causes -[UITextView setText:] to be called.
4. -setText: clears the marked text range in the text view, which breaks multi-character autocomplete (e.g. QWERTY input methods for CJK languages).
The easiest fix for now is to just make sure RCTUITextView and RCTShadowText default to the same text color.
Summary:
The `removeClippedSubviews` feature works by umounting views from the hierarchy if they move outside the bounds of their parent.
This was previously restricted to clipping views which had `overflow: hidden`, since we cannot efficiently check whether the subviews of a view go outside its bounds, and so clipping a view that has potentially overflowing children becomes an expensive recursive operation.
The problem with this is that `overflow: visible` is the default, and it's not well documented nor easy to tell that `removeClippedSubviews` has been set up correctly (i.e. with all children having `overflow: hidden`).
When I checked, I found that `removeClippedSubviews` was not working on any of the examples in UIExplorer, nor in several of our internal apps, because the views inside the ListView has `overflow: visible`. This was probably caused by an infra change at some point, but I'm not sure how long it's been broken.
It's vanishingly unlikely that anyone would ever deliberately want subviews to overflow their bounds in this scenario, so I've updated the logic to simply ignore the `overflow` property and assume that views should be clipped if you are using the `removeClippedSubviews` property on the parent.
Cons / Breaking changes: in some rare circumstances, a view might get clipped prematurely if its parent is outside the scrollview bounds, but it itself is inside. This doesn't occur in practice in any of our products, and could be worked around with additional wrapper views if it did.
Pros: removeClippedSubviews is now much easier to use, and much more likely to work as intended, so most list-based apps should see a performance improvement.
Summary:
RCTScrollView was calling `dockClosestSectionHeader` in `reactBridgeDidFinishTransaction`, which triggers a layout update. The reason for this was in case the `stickyHeaderIndexes` property was updated, which would require the headers to be adjusted.
However, doing this in `reactBridgeDidFinishTransaction` had the affect of causing `layoutSubviews` to be called repeatedly every frame even if nothing had changed and the scrollview wasn't moving, which was especially expensive when combined with the `removeClippedSubviews` logic, that loops through every view to calculate if it needs to be clipped.
This fix moves the `dockClosestSectionHeader` call into `didUpdateProps`, and checks that the stickyHeaderIndexes have actually changed before calling it.
- **AdsManagerActivity** has a member variable of **FBRedBoxHandler**.
- **AdsManagerActivity** passes this handler all the way down to the **DevSupportManagerImpl**, through** ReactInstanceManager**, **ReactInstanceManagerImpl**, **DevSupportManagerFactory**.
if (mRedBoxHandler != null) {
The TextInput when configured with `multiline=true` has a minor issue due to which if the initial text doesn't fit in one line, the input won't span multiple lines. The root cause of the problem is that the `onChange` event is not fired for the initial render. This issue has been reported on open-source: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/commit/481f560f64806ba3324cf722d6bf8c3f36ac74a5
This is an attempt to fix this problem by moving the logic to fire the event to the method that updates the content size. This way we can guarantee that anytime the content size changes we'll trigger the JS event.
The downside of this approach is that it's possible that multiple events get fired for a single character change. As per the comment that was removed, this was already happening when adding a character that when rendered, would increase the content size. By moving the code to the new place, this can happen more often (twice per character tapped). Let me know if you think this is an issue.
I don't know this code much, so please be careful reviewing. I'm happy to add more test cases I may have missed to the test plan :).
Summary:
The TextInput when configured with `multiline=true` has a minor issue due to which if the initial text doesn't fit in one line, the input won't span multiple lines. The root cause of the problem is that the `onChange` event is not fired for the initial render. This issue has been reported on open-source: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/commit/481f560f64806ba3324cf722d6bf8c3f36ac74a5
This is an attempt to fix this problem by moving the logic to fire the event to the method that updates the content size. This way we can guarantee that anytime the content size changes we'll trigger the JS event.
The downside of this approach is that it's possible that multiple events get fired for a single character change. As per the comment that was removed, this was already happening when adding a character that when rendered, would increase the content size. By moving the code to the new place, this can happen more often (twice per character tapped). Let me know if you think this is an issue.
I don't know this code much, so please be careful reviewing. I'm happy to add more test cases I may have missed to the test plan :).
XMLHttpRequest was sending the request before registering any listeners, resulting in a warning from the native event emitter.
Since we weren't seeing widespread problems with XHR missing data, this was probably working OK in practice because the queuing of events meant that the listener would have been registered before the message was actually delivered.
Still, this was working more through luck than design. This diff fixes it by registering the listeners *before* sending the request.
Previously, only Text and Image could be nested within Text. Now, any
view can be nested within Text. One restriction of this feature is
that developers must give inline views a width and a height via
the style prop.
Previously, inline Images were supported by using iOS's built-in support
for rendering images with an NSAttributedString via NSTextAttachment.
However, NSAttributedString doesn't support rendering arbitrary views.
This change adds support for nesting views within Text by creating one
NSTextAttachment per inline view. The NSTextAttachments act as placeholders.
They are set to be the size of the corresponding view. After the text is
laid out, we query the text system to find out where it has positioned each
NSTextAttachment. We then position the views to be at those locations.
Autocorrect was broken for controlled TextInput components by a change to batch event handling in React Native:
https://github.com/facebook/react/commit/9f11f8c2634921e657df2691e6bfda18fead5bcc
For example, a TextInput like this would be affected by this bug:
```javascript
<TextInput
autoCorrect={true}
style={{height: 26, width: 100}}
onChangeText={(text) => this.setState({ text })}

This fix uses the same approach as
https://github.com/facebook/react-native/commit/0cd2904b235f53ed684bb9898280461e2cee0b5b
The problem is that TextInput's _onChange handler relied on this.props.value being updated synchronously when calling this.props.onChangeText(text). However, this assumption was broken when React Native event handling started being batched.
The fix is to move the code that relies on this.props.value being up-to-date to componentDidUpdate.

Fixes npm deployment script as in https://circleci.com/gh/facebook/react-native/6745.
Example situation:
- admin is ready to release 0.26.0
- admin adds tag v0.26.0 and pushes to origin
- Circle CI build fails because of code error
- admin cherry-picks a fix and tags v0.26.0 again and pushes to origin
- Circle does not update local tag v0.26.0 because it already has it cached, compiles the code but fails to deploy to npm because v0.26.0 is not on branch HEAD from Circle point of view
The previous version of the script was checking the tags on current commit as well but it used the local branch tags.
This change fetches tags from `origin` fresh and allows us to redeploy the same version multiple times.

In RN we cache image data after loading/downloading an image, however the data we store is the compressed image data, and we decode this asynchronously each time it is displayed.
This can lead to a slight flicker when reloading image components because the decoded image is discarded and then re-decoded.
This diff adds a small (5MB) cache for decoded images so that images that are currently on screen shouldn't flicker any more if the component is reloaded.

This separates the babel config of the local-cli and the packager from the one used by the transforms of the packager since it doesn't run in the same environment and the local-cli/packager doesn't require react specific transforms and runs in node 4 so we can also avoid some es2015 transforms that node already supports.
I had to move the code in cli.js so it can still run in node 0.12 that doesn't support `const` since it is no longer transformed.
**Test plan**
Run the local-cli on node 0.12 and there should be a message saying that it requires at least node 4.
Run the local-cli on node 4 and 5 and everything should work the same as before.
I was also hoping for some perf gains but there was nothing noticeable. I did benchmark the babel-register call and it stayed pretty much the same. As for runtime performance it can help if there are optimisations for es2015 features in node.

Summary:
The way we currently symbolicate JS stack traces in RN during development time
(e.g. inside the RedBox) is the following: we download the source map from RN,
parse it and use `source-map` find original file/line numbers. All happens
inside running JSC VM in a simulator.
The problem with this approach is that the source map size is pretty big and it
is very expensive to load/parse.
Before we load sourcemaps:
{F60869250}
After we load sourcemaps:
{F60869249}
In the past it wasn't a big problem, however the sourcemap file is only getting
larger and soon we will be loading it for yellow boxes too: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/7459
Moving stack trace symbolication to server side will let us:
- save a bunch of memory on device
- improve performance (no need to JSON serialize/deserialize and transfer sourcemap via HTTP and bridge)
- remove ugly workaround with `RCTExceptionsManager.updateExceptionMessage`
- we will be able to symbolicate from native by simply sending HTTP request, which means symbolication
can be more robust (no need to depend on crashed JS to do symbolication) and we can pause JSC to
avoid getting too many redboxes that hide original error.
- reduce the bundle by ~65KB (the size of source-map parsing library we ship, see SourceMap module)

Incremental rendering is a tradeoff between throughput and responsiveness because it yields. When we have plenty of
buffer (say 50% of the target), we render incrementally to keep the app responsive. If we are dangerously low on buffer
(say below 25%) we always disable incremental to try to catch up as fast as possible. In between, we only disable
incremental while actively scrolling since it's unlikely the user will try to press a button while scrolling.
This also optimizes some things then incremental is switching back and forth.
I played around with making the render window itself adaptive, but it seems pretty futile to predict - once the user
decides to scroll quickly in some direction, it's pretty much too late and increasing the render window size won't help
because we're already limited by the render throughput at that point.

In NavigationAnimatedView, we `position` (an Animated.Value object) as a proxy of the

Because `position` does not change unless navigation index changes, it won't
be possible to build animations for actions that changes the navigation state

This works with D3305161 to minimize image flashing. After D3305161, the completion handler passed to `-[RCTImageLoader loadImageWithoutClipping:size:scale:resizeMode:progressBlock:completionBlock:]` may be called back on the main queue in the case of a cached image. In this case, we want to set the image view's image property synchronously rather than on the next runloop iteration via dispatch_async. This minimizes the amount of image flashing the user sees when displaying a cached image.
The exception to this case is for blurred images. A blur can be an expensive (taking multiple ms on the CPU), so we always make sure to perform the blur off the main queue even if the image is cached and the callback came back on the main queue.

Previously, only Text and Image could be nested within Text. Now, any
view can be nested within Text. One restriction of this feature is
that developers must give inline views a width and a height via

Previously, inline Images were supported by using iOS's built-in support

However, NSAttributedString doesn't support rendering arbitrary views.
This change adds support for nesting views within Text by creating one

They are set to be the size of the corresponding view. After the text is

with exponents (e.g. `1.452e-10`), which is not valid for an `rgba` color spec.
This commit arbitrarily rounds it to the nearest thousandth to prevent this type

One way this could bubble up to the user is as PropType validation failures:

In short, the crash occurred when a RN app with a Alert dialog shown at front switches back after it is destroyed at background due to lack of phone memory.
My fix is to let those Alert fragment classes accessible from android.support.v4.app.Fragment instantiate() function, so that it won't crash. And since other UI will be reloaded whatever, mListener is set to null to avoid any callback happen.

The `EmitterSubscription.remove()` method was previously calling `this.subscriber.removeSubscription(this)` directly, bypassing the mechanism in `NativeEventEmitter` that keeps track of the number of subscriptions.
This meant that native event modules (subclasses of `RCTEventEmitter`) would keep sending events even after all the listeners had been removed. This wasn't a huge overhead, since these modules are singletons and only send one message over the bridge per event, regardless of the number of listeners, but it's still undesirable.
This fixes the problem by routing the `EmitterSubscription.remove()` method through the `EventEmitter` so that `NativeEventEmitter` can apply the additional native calls.
I've also improved the architecture so that each `NativeEventEmitter` uses its own `EventEmitter`, but they currently all still share the same `EventSubscriptionVendor` so that legacy code which registers events via `RCTDeviceEventEmitter` still works.

There's an edge case in the `RefreshControl` which causes it to show as refreshing when the state is set to false. When the component is initialized with `refreshing` set to `true` on initial render but set to `false` before `layoutSubviews` is called, it will call `beginRefresh` and ignore its state. That's because `layoutSubviews` never checks if `_currentRefreshingState` is in fact still `true`, it merely assumes it is.
This is fixed by simply doing a check for `_currentRefreshingState` before entering `beginRefresh` from `layoutSubviews`.

There was a race condition with `SwipeRefreshLayout` that cause the `RefreshControl` to keep refreshing when it shouldn't.
It was caused because we have to use `post` to set the refreshing state otherwise it doesn't work when setting `refreshing=true` on initial mount. What happened is that `post` doesn't guarantee the order the runnables will be called so calling post with `refreshing=true` followed by `refreshing=false` caused the `resfreshing=false` runnable to be called before the `resfreshing=true` one. This made it stay in refreshing state when it should not.
```
D/test ( 6171): setRefreshing true
D/test ( 6171): setRefreshing post false
Summary:
This is a solution for the problem I raised in https://www.facebook.com/groups/react.native.community/permalink/768218933313687/
I've added a new native base class, `RCTEventEmitter` as well as an equivalent JS class/module `NativeEventEmitter` (RCTEventEmitter.js and EventEmitter.js were taken already).
Instead of arbitrary modules sending events via `bridge.eventDispatcher`, the idea is that any module that sends events should now subclass `RCTEventEmitter`, and provide an equivalent JS module that subclasses `NativeEventEmitter`.
JS code that wants to observe the events should now observe it via the specific JS module rather than via `RCTDeviceEventEmitter` directly. e.g. to observer a keyboard event, instead of writing:
const RCTDeviceEventEmitter = require('RCTDeviceEventEmitter');
RCTDeviceEventEmitter.addListener('keyboardWillShow', (event) => { ... });
You'd now write:
const Keyboard = require('Keyboard');
Keyboard.addListener('keyboardWillShow', (event) => { ... });
Within a component, you can also use the `Subscribable.Mixin` as you would previously, but instead of:
this.addListenerOn(RCTDeviceEventEmitter, 'keyboardWillShow', ...);
Write:
this.addListenerOn(Keyboard, 'keyboardWillShow', ...);
This approach allows the native `RCTKeyboardObserver` module to be created lazily the first time a listener is added, and to stop sending events when the last listener is removed. It also allows us to validate that the event strings being observed and omitted match the supported events for that module.
As a proof-of-concept, I've converted the `RCTStatusBarManager` and `RCTKeyboardObserver` modules to use the new system. I'll convert the rest in a follow up diff.
For now, the new `NativeEventEmitter` JS module wraps the `RCTDeviceEventEmitter` JS module, and just uses the native `RCTEventEmitter` module for bookkeeping. This allows for full backwards compatibility (code that is observing the event via `RCTDeviceEventEmitter` instead of the specific module will still work as expected, albeit with a warning). Once all legacy calls have been removed, this could be refactored to something more elegant internally, whilst maintaining the same public interface.
Note: currently, all device events still share a single global namespace, since they're really all registered on the same emitter instance internally. We should move away from that as soon as possible because it's not intuitive and will likely lead to strange bugs if people add generic events such as "onChange" or "onError" to their modules (which is common practice for components, where it's not a problem).
The XMLHttpRequest jest tests were attempting to call a private method in XMLHttpRequestBase.js (denoted by an _ prefix).
JS doesn't actually have any language-level support for private methods, the use of _ prefix is just a convention. But to prevent casually calling private methods externally, we have a transform that mangles the names of prefixed methods so that that attempting to call them will fail.
Using a double _ bypasses this name-mangling mechanism, while still making it clear that the method is intended to be private.
Currently the Modal component on Android is rendered below the Status Bar, which changes it's color to grey, and in the UIExplorer example the backdrop is just formatted to look the same color. In some scenarios users may want to preserve the color of their status bar and make it look as though the modal is appearing on top. This PR allows for that.
We previously were unmounting the react application unconditionally when the ReactRootView#onDetachedFromWindow. This is nice in that it automatically allows us to reclaim memory, but there are many scenarios where a ReactRootView can be embedded in another piece of UI that detaches its children as part of its normal function (e.g. ListView, RecyclerView, ViewPager, etc).
As such, we will now enforce that the hosting Activity/Fragment/??? explicitly calls unmountReactApplication in the same way it calls startReactApplication. For Applications extending ReactActivity/AbstractReactActivity, this will happen automatically in onDestroy.
Add the possibility to define a progress view top offset to RefreshControl on android. As i comment in #6740, contentInset does the trick on IOS.
Looking android documentation seems that exists a possible solution:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/support/v4/widget/SwipeRefreshLayout.html#setProgressViewOffset(boolean, int, int)
This pull request implement that but keeping it simple, only a top offset.
For example, now we could put navigation bar over the scrollview (or listview) and define a progressViewOffset on RefreshView in order to start behind the navigation. At this point we could make some kind of coordinator layout to hide/show navigation on scroll.
To maintain the default behavior, start point is equal to start point minus progress circle diameter in order to create that progress circle before the start point.
Previously, the back swipe navigation gesture would be enabled when the navigation bar is shown and disabled when the navigation bar is hidden.
This change enables developers to control the back swipe gesture independently of the visibility of the navigation bar. An example use case would be that an app wants to render a custom navigation bar so it sets `navigationBarHidden` to true and it wants to enable the back swipe gesture so it sets `interactivePopGestureEnabled` to true.
I need to do some refactoring of what happens when a ReactRootView is attached/detached from the window. In doing so, I found ReactRootView is way more complicated than it needs to be and very hard to understand. This simplifies it while maintaining functionality.
Basically:
- When you start a react application, if the root view is measured, we attach it to the instance.
- If it wasn't measured, we do nothing
- In onMeasure, if we have a ReactInstanceManager, but are not attached to it, attach to it.
None of this needs to depend on whether we're attached to the window or whether an attach is scheduled afaict.
Summary:
This adds support for pagingEnabled to the HorizontalScrollView.
This is an initial implementation.
Because Android doesn't provide great details about what is happening with a scroll view after you are done touching it, we have some post touch handling. This is kicked off either by touch up or a fling call.
Once we are doing that handling, we start a runnable that basically checks if we are still scrolling. If we are, we just schedule that runnable again and check a frame later. If we are done scrolling (no onScrollChanged since we last fired), we could be in one of two states, the fling is done or we are done snapping to the page boundary. If we are in the fling done case, we then check if we need to scroll to a page boundary. If so, we call smoothScrollTo and schedule ourself to check onScroll events again until done with that scroll. If we are done with both (either we only did momentum scroll or we did that and then snapped to page), we can then fire the final event and stop checking. This logic is all in handlePostTouchScrolling.
Because of the decision to only do page scrolling after momentum ends, we do allow you to scroll through with momentum a number of pages and the transition can be a little strange where it stops a sec and then slides to be page aligned. As a follow up, we can probably smooth that up by changing the value we pass to super.fling() that would adjust it to be let momentum carry it to the page boundary.
Allow changing distanceFilter after _locationManager has been initialized.
There is 2 reasons for this PR:
- When calling `getCurrentPosition`, `_observerOptions` is possibly not set properly ( as it is set only in `startObserving`), in this case it would have default values so `distanceFilter` will be 0 in this case ( which can be the right value but we should be more explicit about it, `kCLDistanceFilterNone` or `RCT_DEFAULT_LOCATION_ACCURACY`):
The core team will be monitoring for pull requests. When we get one, we'll run some Facebook-specific integration tests on it first. From here, we'll need to get another person to sign off on the changes and then merge the pull request. For API changes we may need to fix internal uses, which could cause some delay. We'll do our best to provide updates and feedback throughout the process.
Please submit your pull request on the *master* branch. If the fix is critical and should be included in a stable branch please mention it and it will be cherry picked into it.
*Before* submitting a pull request, please make sure the following is done…
1. Fork the repo and create your branch from `master`.
2.**Describe your test plan in your commit.** If you've added code that should be tested, add tests!
3. If you've changed APIs, update the documentation.
4. If you've updated the docs, verify the website locally and submit screenshots if applicable
5. Add the copyright notice to the top of any new files you've added.
6. Ensure tests pass on Travis and Circle CI.
7. Make sure your code lints (`node linter.js <files touched>`).
8. Squash your commits (`git rebase -i`).
9. If you haven't already, sign the [CLA](https://code.facebook.com/cla).
Note: It is not necessary to keep clicking `Merge master to your branch` on PR page. You would want to merge master if there are conflicts or tests are failing. The facebook-bot ultimately squashes all commits to a single one before merging your PR.
