Livio SpringandGitHub 1e0b810dca feat: allow managing invite code in secret generators (#12109)
# Which Problems Are Solved

Zitadel exposes the secrets generator configuration through its admin
api. This allows instance admins to manage them on their own and they
can create overwrite the system / runtime defaults (incl. expiration).
This very much needed in multi-instance scenarios such as zitadel.cloud.
Currently the invite code configuration was not manageable through the
API, but only runtime config.

# How the Problems Are Solved

- added the `invite_code` type to the API allowing it to be set and
retrieved.
- added the type to console's management list
- added the type to be stored on instance setup
- change the `GetSecretGenerator` endpoint to fall back to the runtime
config if no config is stored on the instance itself
- ensure the `length` and at least one charset is enabled, return an
error otherwise
- expiry is not enforced, so 0 allows codes with no expiry (current
state)

01fe34a526 fix(oidc): use authenticated encryption for opaque tokens (#12017)
# Which Problems Are Solved

Opaque tokens now use authenticated encryption.

# How the Problems Are Solved

- Upgrade zitadel/oidc to v3.47
- Copy crypto implementation for refresh and session tokens (internal to
zitadel)
- Added config that allows validating old tokens for gradual roll-out

# Additional Changes

- Set NX cache for `integration-test-build` to `false`, working on a
seperate fix.

Livio SpringandGitHub 71fab2e574 feat: allow adding trusted domains in instance setup (#11169)
# Which Problems Are Solved

When running Zitadel behind a reverse proxy and especially when the API
and the login UI don't run on the same domain, Zitadel needs to be
configured to trust the corresponding domains and use them in public
responses, like email links and more.
This can be done by adding a trusted domain. However it's currently only
possible through the API and not in the instance setup process.

# How the Problems Are Solved

Added a possibility to configure multiple trusted domains in the first
instance setup process.

2a2d5392a3 fix: correctly send links to login v2 in email notifications (#10711)
# Which Problems Are Solved

There were still some emails (passkey registration and domain claimed)
sent with links pointing to login v1 even when the login v2 was enabled
for the instance.
Also while looking into the issue, it was discovered that some links
pointing to login V2 were not correctly generated.

# How the Problems Are Solved

- Added default paths for passkey registration and domain claimed
notifications
- Fixed the existing paths to properly handle concatenation (resp. use
`url.ResolveReference`)
  - Change their go types (from string) to `*url.URL`
  - Added a mapstructure hook for string to url
- Removed unnecessary `InstanceSetupFeatures` and corresponding
conversions
- Refactored the methods on the `login.DefaultPaths` struct and added an
interface to the `Commands` to only need to pass a single config (and
not every method)
- Added an `OriginURL` method to the `DomainCtx` to prevent going from
url to string and back
- Added the use of the templates in case of enabled login v2 for passkey
registration and domain claimed)

b339a3e696 feat: instance domain APIs with relational tables (#11051)
# Which Problems Are Solved

This PR implements the endpoints listed in
https://github.com/zitadel/zitadel/issues/10444 .

# How the Problems Are Solved

The implementation follows the same pattern as the Instance one. The
`Add` and `Remove` are implementing the `Commander` interface, while
`List` Domains endpoints are implementing the `Querier` interace.

The PR adds also some forgotten calls to the relational logic for the
Instance API. The commits are identifiable by the label `instance:`

Livio SpringandGitHub c2a0b9d187 feat(api): move instance service to v2 (#10919)
# Which Problems Are Solved

As part of our efforts to simplify the structure and versions of our
APIs, were moving all existing v2beta endpoints to v2 and deprecate
them. They will be removed in Zitadel V5.

# How the Problems Are Solved

- This PR moves instance v2beta service and its endpoints to a
corresponding v2 version. The v2beta service and endpoints are
deprecated.
- The docs are moved to the new GA service and its endpoints. The v2beta
is not displayed anymore.
- The comments and have been improved and, where not already done, moved
from swagger annotations to proto.
- All required fields have been marked with (google.api.field_behavior)
= REQUIRED and validation rules have been added where missing
- `Domain` has been renamed to `CustomDomain` to align with naming
conventions
- `..Query` has been renamed to `..Filter` to align with other services
- The `instance_id` parameter can now passed on all endpoints and is
properly used, but requires `system` permissions. It can be omitted to
use the own instance (identified by context as any other service).
  - The following endpoints are affected:
    - GetInstance
    - UpdateInstance
    - ListCustomDomains
    - AddTrustedDomain
    - RemoveTrustedDomain
    - ListTrustedDomains
- InstanceService has been added the InstanceInterceptor's
`explicitInstanceIdServices` to allow passing the id
- If the instance is not found by id, the error is not directly returned
to prevent enumeration.
- Permissions are checked in the API instead of the interceptor for
these calls.
- Setting the same instance name in the update no longer returns an
error, but the previous change date.

b46c41e4bf fix(settings): fix for setting restricted languages (#9947)
# Which Problems Are Solved

Zitadel encounters a migration error when setting `restricted languages`
and fails to start.

# How the Problems Are Solved

The problem is that there is a check that checks that at least one of
the restricted languages is the same as the `default language`, however,
in the `authz instance` (where the default language is pulled form) is
never set.

I've added code to set the `default language` in the `authz instance`

# Which Problems Are Solved

These changes introduce resource-based API endpoints for managing
instances and custom domains.

There are 4 types of changes:

- Endpoint implementation: consisting of the protobuf interface and the
implementation of the endpoint. E.g:
606439a172
- (Integration) Tests: testing the implemented endpoint. E.g:
cdfe1f0372
- Fixes: Bugs found during development that are being fixed. E.g:
acbbeedd32
- Miscellaneous: code needed to put everything together or that doesn't
fit any of the above categories. E.g:
529df92abc or
6802cb5468

# Additional Changes

When looking for instances (through the `ListInstances` endpoint)
matching a given query, if you ask for the results to be order by a
specific column, the query will fail due to a syntax error. This is
fixed in acbbeedd32 . Further explanation
can be found in the commit message

# Additional Context

- Relates to #9452
- CreateInstance has been excluded:
https://github.com/zitadel/zitadel/issues/9930
- Permission checks / instance retrieval (middleware) needs to be
changed to allow context based permission checks
(https://github.com/zitadel/zitadel/issues/9929), required for
ListInstances

Stefan BenzandGitHub 0ea42f1ddf fix: no project owner at project creation and cleanup (#9317)
# Which Problems Are Solved

Project creation always requires a user as project owner, in case of a
system user creating the project, there is no valid user existing at
that moment.

# How the Problems Are Solved

Remove the initially created project owner membership, as this is
something which was necessary in old versions, and all should work
perfectly without.
The call to add a project automatically designates the calling user as
the project owner, which is irrelevant currently, as this user always
already has higher permissions to be able to even create the project.

Cleanup of the existing checks for the project, which can be improved
through the usage of the fields table.

Livio SpringandGitHub 50d2b26a28 feat: specify login UI version on instance and apps (#9071)
# Which Problems Are Solved

To be able to migrate or test the new login UI, admins might want to
(temporarily) switch individual apps.
At a later point admin might want to make sure all applications use the
new login UI.

# How the Problems Are Solved

- Added a feature flag `` on instance level to require all apps to use
the new login and provide an optional base url.
- if the flag is enabled, all (OIDC) applications will automatically use
the v2 login.
  - if disabled, applications can decide based on their configuration
- Added an option on OIDC apps to use the new login UI and an optional
base url.
- Removed the requirement to use `x-zitadel-login-client` to be
redirected to the login V2 and retrieve created authrequest and link
them to SSO sessions.
- Added a new "IAM_LOGIN_CLIENT" role to allow management of users,
sessions, grants and more without `x-zitadel-login-client`.

041af26917 feat(OIDC): add back channel logout (#8837)
# Which Problems Are Solved

Currently ZITADEL supports RP-initiated logout for clients. Back-channel
logout ensures that user sessions are terminated across all connected
applications, even if the user closes their browser or loses
connectivity providing a more secure alternative for certain use cases.

# How the Problems Are Solved

If the feature is activated and the client used for the authentication
has a back_channel_logout_uri configured, a
`session_logout.back_channel` will be registered. Once a user terminates
their session, a (notification) handler will send a SET (form POST) to
the registered uri containing a logout_token (with the user's ID and
session ID).

- A new feature "back_channel_logout" is added on system and instance
level
- A `back_channel_logout_uri` can be managed on OIDC applications
- Added a `session_logout` aggregate to register and inform about sent
`back_channel` notifications
- Added a `SecurityEventToken` channel and `Form`message type in the
notification handlers
- Added `TriggeredAtOrigin` fields to `HumanSignedOut` and
`TerminateSession` events for notification handling
- Exported various functions and types in the `oidc` package to be able
to reuse for token signing in the back_channel notifier.
- To prevent that current existing session termination events will be
handled, a setup step is added to set the `current_states` for the
`projections.notifications_back_channel_logout` to the current position

- [x] requires https://github.com/zitadel/oidc/pull/671

# Additional Changes

- Updated all OTEL dependencies to v1.29.0, since OIDC already updated
some of them to that version.

Tim MöhlmannandGitHub 32bad3feb3 perf(milestones): refactor (#8788)
# Which Problems Are Solved

Milestones used existing events from a number of aggregates. OIDC
session is one of them. We noticed in load-tests that the reduction of
the oidc_session.added event into the milestone projection is a costly
business with payload based conditionals. A milestone is reached once,
but even then we remain subscribed to the OIDC events. This requires the
projections.current_states to be updated continuously.

# How the Problems Are Solved

The milestone creation is refactored to use dedicated events instead.
The command side decides when a milestone is reached and creates the
reached event once for each milestone when required.

# Additional Changes

In order to prevent reached milestones being created twice, a migration
script is provided. When the old `projections.milestones` table exist,
the state is read from there and `v2` milestone aggregate events are
created, with the original reached and pushed dates.

042c438813 feat(v3alpha): read actions (#8357)
# Which Problems Are Solved

The current v3alpha actions APIs don't exactly adhere to the [new
resources API
design](https://zitadel.com/docs/apis/v3#standard-resources).

# How the Problems Are Solved

- **Improved ID access**: The aggregate ID is added to the resource
details object, so accessing resource IDs and constructing proto
messages for resources is easier
- **Explicit Instances**: Optionally, the instance can be explicitly
given in each request
- **Pagination**: A default search limit and a max search limit are
added to the defaults.yaml. They apply to the new v3 APIs (currently
only actions). The search query defaults are changed to ascending by
creation date, because this makes the pagination results the most
deterministic. The creation date is also added to the object details.
The bug with updated creation dates is fixed for executions and targets.
- **Removed Sequences**: Removed Sequence from object details and
ProcessedSequence from search details

# Additional Changes

Object details IDs are checked in unit test only if an empty ID is
expected. Centralizing the details check also makes this internal object
more flexible for future evolutions.
