Perform actions by typing in CotEditor on Mac

With Quick Action, you can perform menu commands by typing just a few characters.

Perform an action from the command bar

  1. Go to the CotEditor app on your Mac.

  2. Open the command bar either by choosing View > Show Quick Actions or by pressing Command-K.

  3. Type characters into the command bar.

    Matching actions appear incrementally below the field.

    Quick Action matches menu commands whose menu path and command title contain all the typed characters in order.

  4. Select the action to perform in the list by pressing the or key.

  5. Press the Return key to perform the selected action.

    To close the command bar without performing an action, do one of the following:

    • Press Command-K again.

    • Press Esc.

    • Press Command-Period.

    • Press Return while no action candidates are shown.

    • Click outside of the command bar.
