It turns out npm sets the latest tag by default so simply removing it didn't change the previous behavior. The `latest` tag is typically used for stable release versions, and other tags for unstable versions such as prereleases. React Compiler is a compiler that optimizes React applications, ensuring that only the minimal parts of components and hooks will re-render when state changes. The compiler also validates that components and hooks follow the Rules of React.
