Summary: Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/39807 We used to need this file so that we could read the react native version when [creating Hermes artifacts](https://github.com/facebook/react-native/commit/e4b5d3eec9bae44c46795c4be097b31cb48593ae#diff-78a8a19706dbd2a4425dd72bdab0502ed7a2cef16365ab7030a5a0588927bf47R1507).
