Lorenzo Sciandra 232e4474e6 chore: re-align version to be 1000.0.0 on main everywhere (#34817)
Summary:
While working on https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/34513 I noticed that on main branch the versioning is not really consistent everywhere. So this PR is an attempt at realigning so that on the main branch, RN is 1000.0.0 everywhere - in a way, it's cleaning up the room for the monorepo work to go flawlessly).

It's just a pass of `node scripts/set-rn-version.js --to-version 1000.0.0`.

There's the small chance that some versions where kept to 0.0.0 on purpose (build tools are weird), so we might just have to close this off. No big deal :)

Rachit Mishra 3f3394a566 fix: handle webview provider missing exception (#34456)
Summary:
The [existing fix](https://github.com/facebook/react-native/blob/fb936dfffb3ca2d9bc0969dfe36a70bdf66783e0/ReactAndroid/src/main/java/com/facebook/react/modules/network/ForwardingCookieHandler.java#L151) to handle missing WebView provider uses string comparison based checks to handle the exception gracefully, or otherwise simply throw the exception. This ends up crashing the app for the end user.

<img width="1319" alt="Screenshot 2022-08-19 at 4 33 31 PM" src="https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/933314/185605137-24757dad-806e-4cca-b000-7d6ce2d191e1.png">

Fatal exceptions are bad in any case and not good user experience, we can gracefully handle this by [returning](https://github.com/facebook/react-native/compare/main...rachitmishra:react-native-1:patch-2#diff-f7ca1976002c4612051e4949395e64511b6f769e347c488e9a0d15cb5331fe76R141) `null` for all cases when WebView provider is not found.

Rasmus Eneman 5451cd48bd fix: Crash if WebView is disabled (#34483)
Summary:
When the webview is updated by play store, all apps that has loaded webview gets killed. For background see https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/228611949?pli=1

We have a long-running app and don't want this to happen and while we are not using webview anywhere, we are using websockets that loads it for reading cookies, however we are not using cookies to authenticate the websocket and thus want to disable the webview to avoid loading it unnecessarily and then getting killed unnecessarily.

The webview has support for beeing disabled https://developer.android.com/reference/android/webkit/WebView#disableWebView() however as-is this crashes React Native. It seems to me like this case is very similar to not having web view installed and should be handled in the same way.

Nicola Corti d35aab45b9 Do not store .cpp/.h files inside src/main/java - reactnativeblob (#34421)
Summary:
Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/34421

Currently we expose native code (.h, .cpp) inside the src/main/java folder.
This is making impossible for users on New Architecture to open the project
inside Android Studio.

The problem is that the src/main/java is reserved to Java/Kotlin sources only.
AGP 7.2 also removed support for mixed source roots:
https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/gradle-plugin#duplicate-content-roots

This is essentially forcing users to write Java code without any autocompletion
as all the React Native Java classes are considered C++ files.

I'm addressing this issue folder by folder by moving them
from ReactAndroid/src/main/java/com/facebook/... to ReactAndroid/src/main/jni/react/...

This is the diff for reactnativeblob

Hetan Thakkar c663c0ec9d Fixed and added support for dataUri in form data (#33675)
Summary:
Continuation of https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/33548
Fixes https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/25790. The issue resulted because the [getFileInputStream() method of RequestBodyUtil failed to return an inputStream of the given dataUri ](https://github.com/facebook/react-native/blob/16397e0d3c0dd3374ddb642599725ca41f092a8a/ReactAndroid/src/main/java/com/facebook/react/modules/network/NetworkingModule.java#L427) This happened because the openInputStream() method of [context.getContentResolver() expects a content or a file](https://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/ContentResolver#openInputStream(android.net.Uri)) in its parameter but instead received dataUri which resulted in FileNotFoundException.

![issue](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/38756320/161345967-fd79d3e2-54a8-4a0e-8a6b-189ce9883a78.jpeg)

**Solution**:

I've now converted the dataUri to bitmap and then attached an inputStream to the compressed bitmap. This way we won't have to store the image temporarily. I think converting the dataUri to Bitmap is necessary as there is no method that lets us convert the dataUri to inputStream directly. And regarding large size images, converting them to bitmap is the only(efficient) step I can think of, as the conversion is handled by in-built java function.

This issue has been unresolved for quite some time now, so resolving this PR would be greatly appreciated.

Vladyslav Stepanov 86f8d0bb52 Fix Android implementation for Linking.sendIntent()
Summary:
Changelog:
[Android][Fixed] - Fix Extras usage in Android implementation of Linking.sendIntent()

The implementation of sendIntent() has a bug in a way it uses extras map.

From JS layer the API sends and array of map, where each map contains exactly 2 entries: {"key" -> "name_of_extra_to_use", "value" -> value_of_extra_to_use}

However Java parsing was just picking a random pair out of this map and was sending it as extra.

Most frequently the result was "value" -> value_of_extra_to_use in Intent instead of name_of_extra_to_use -> value_of_extra_to_use

Kunal Farmah 8c573d9336 Added fail-safe check to catch MissingWebViewPackage Exception. (#33088)
Summary:
The check implemented in PR https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/29089 is flawed as the exception class name and message depends on the OS version as well as the OEM. In OxygenOS running android 11, it comes out as RuntimeException and the check fails and hence the crash occurs again. But on observing closely, its clear that the exception message is consistent across OEMs with similar strings appearing in them that have been included in the if check.
Hence there is a simple fix to this issue, by checking the message instead of the exception class.

// The exception class doesn't always contain the correct name as it depends on the OEM
// and OS version. It is better to check the message for clues regarding the exception
// as that is somewhat consistent across OEMs.
// For instance, the Exception thrown on OxygenOS 11 is a RuntimeException but the message contains the required strings.
        // https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/master/core/java/android/webkit/WebViewFactory.java#348

## Changelog

[General] [Added] - A fail proof check to catch any crash involving webview:
if (exception.getClass().getCanonicalName().contains("MissingWebViewPackageException") || (message!=null && (message.contains("WebView provider") || message.contains("No WebView installed"))))
[General] [Removed] - Flawed check to catch WebViewProvider crash:
if (message != null && exception.getClass().getCanonicalName().contains("MissingWebViewPackageException"))

Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/33088

Test Plan:
This code has been tested rigorously on OnePlus Nord CE 5G (Oxygen OS 11.0) and Realme X (Realme UI 2.0) both running on Android 11 and reproducing the crash on a hybrid (Native android + ReactNative) app that showed this crash in production being dependent on WebViews. I have implemented an entire patched fork of 0.67.2 to fix this issue in our app.

How to test:

Launch any app that has a webview.
Go to settings->apps->Android System Webview -> disable.
Resume/Restart the app.

In this fix:
Open a webview and notice that the app will not crash.

In current version:
App crashes on startup as the exception escapes the catch block.
Even if it survives startup (did on Realme X), it will crash once you try to open a webview.

Kuba Holuj 9ed2df628d Fix StatusBar on Android API 30 (#33058)
Summary:
In https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/32975 I implemented the new `insetsController#setSystemBarsAppearance` interface, but I found that on Android 11 (API 30) it doesn't appear to work which I missed in earlier testing. It works correctly on Android 12 and the deprecated `systemUiVisibility` interface still works fine on Android 11, so I'm having Android 11 use the deprecated mechanism.

Summary:
Not setting locale for language/country neutral operation may cause bug depending on the default locale.
See https://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/java/util/Locale.html#ROOT

Note: I am just searching for toLowerCase() and toUppercase() in my project's dependencies and send the same PR, in order to just be considered. Although I've seen the lack of explicit locale has caused issues for us, I am not sure if react-native is actually affected. I haven't checked for `String.format()` yet.

Kuba Holuj 50c8e973f0 Update StatusBar for Android 11+ (#32975)
Summary:
Android 11 (API 30) introduced a new interface for changing the appearance of the status bars with [`WindowInsetsController#setSystemBarsAppearance`](https://developer.android.com/reference/kotlin/android/view/WindowInsetsController#setsystembarsappearance) and deprecated using the `WindowManager#systemUiVisibility` properties.

Apparently, once you call `setSystemBarsAppearance` Android will no longer respect `systemUiVisibility` and if anyone, such as the Android 12 Splash Screen library, happens to call it, it will break status bars.

This PR augments the RN StatusBarModule to use the new interface on Android 11+.

Also updated the rn-tester app, see video.

Lulu Wu c901c43d11 Remove shared responsibility between LogBox and ExceptionsManager native module
Summary:
## Context
Right now we are using both LogBox and ExceptionsManager native module to report JS errors in ExceptionsManager.js, from below code we can tell they have some overlapping - when ```__DEV__ === true``` both could report the error.

https://www.internalfb.com/code/fbsource/[5fb44bc926de87e62e6e538082496f22017698eb]/xplat/js/react-native-github/Libraries/Core/ExceptionsManager.js?lines=109-141

## Changes
In this diff overlapping is removed: in ```ExceptionsManager.js``` LogBox will be responsible for showing the error with dialog when ```__DEV__ === true```, when it's prod we'll use ExceptionsManager native module to report the error. As a result LogBox and ExceptionsManager native module don't share responsibilities any more.

Brent Kelly 25a2c608f7 Addressing various issues with the Appearance API (#28823) (#29106)
Summary:
This PR fixes a few issues with the Appearance API (as noted here https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/28823).

1. For the Appearance API to work correctly on Android you need to call `AppearanceModule.onConfigurationChanged` when the current Activity goes through a configuration change. This was being called in the RNTester app but not in `ReactActivity` so it meant the Appearance API wouldn't work for Android in newly generated RN projects (or ones upgraded to the latest version of RN).

2. The Appearance API wasn't working correctly for brownfield scenarios on Android. It's possible to force an app light or dark natively on Android by calling `AppCompatDelegate.setDefaultNightMode()`. The Appearance API wasn't picking up changes from this function because it was using the Application context instead of the current Activity context.

3. The Appearance API wasn't working correctly for brownfield scenarios on iOS. Just like on Android its possible to force an app light or dark natively by setting `window.overrideUserInterfaceStyle`. The Appearance API didn't work with this override because we were overwriting `_currentColorScheme` back to default as soon as we set it.

Rodolfo d40cb0e1b0 Fix missing webview provider crash on Android (#32165)
Summary:
I applied the changes requested in this PR: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/29089

We upgraded to RN 0.62.2 on our latest release and started to see again the "Failed to load WebView provider: No WebView installed" (see below for Crashlytics screenshot)

![image](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/870365/131935283-033fbd44-5a3b-49b0-bd25-3d6733f22040.png)

This crash had been fixed by https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/24533 but https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/26189 (added in 0.62) reverted the fix

Indeed the exception raised in Crashlytics is actually a `AndroidRuntimeException` and `MissingWebViewPackageException` is only part of the message.

For instance, in the screenshot above, the exception message is `android.webkit.WebViewFactory$MissingWebViewPackageException: Failed to load WebView provider: No WebView installed`

Now these crashes are quite tricky to reproduce, so to be on the safe side, I'm filtering out all exceptions containing `WebView` as suggested by thorbenprimke on the original fix.

If my reasoning is correct, it should fix siddhantsoni 's issue as well, since `WebView` is included in `MissingWebViewPackageException`
But following that reasoning, I am not sure https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/26189 fixed siddhantsoni 's issue, so siddhantsoni if you could check that this PR also fixes your issue, that would be great!

Before the fix ~0.1% of our users were impacted on Android, no new crashes have occurred after the update.

This is putting back what was already in place and working for us, but making the check wider to catch more errors.
