Robert BalickiandFacebook GitHub Bot 6152763398 Buck, etc. changes that enable persisted, sync settings for DevTools (#35163)
Summary:
Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/35163

# What

This diff contains all the changes from D40333083 (https://github.com/facebook/react-native/commit/0fac9817df403e31d8256befe52409c948614706) (aka https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/34964), **except** the change to `setUpReactDevTools.js`, which actually uses the new files.

# Why

* We want to ship the Buck, C++, etc. changes before the JavaScript changes that depend on those files.
* Otherwise, apps can fail at startup with the message:
```
`TurboModuleRegistry.getEnforcing(...): '${name}' could not be found. ` +
      'Verify that a module by this name is registered in the native binary.',
```
* Note that this only occurs if you are using a previously-built version of the C++, Obj C, etc. files in RN, but a more recent version of the JavaScript files. If you are building from matching sources, this does not occur.
* After a few days, we can land the JS files.

Tony DuandFacebook GitHub Bot 1e3cb91707 Allow multiline TextInputs be submittable without blurring (#33653)
Summary:
For multiline TextInputs, it's possible to send the submit event when pressing the return key only with `blurOnSubmit`. However, there's currently no way to do so without blurring the input and dismissing the keyboard. This problem is apparent when we want to use a TextInput to span multiple lines but still have it be submittable (but not blurrable), like one might want for a TODO list.

Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/33653

Test Plan:
Verified old usages of combinations of `blurOnSubmit` and `multiline` matched previous behavior and that the new `returnKeyAction` prop behaves as expected.

The keyboard height of event keyboardDidShow is computed as the difference of two variables:

- The screen height excluding the Android Notch
DisplayMetricsHolder.getWindowDisplayMetrics().heightPixels returns the screen height excluding the Android Notch
- The Visible Area excluding the Keyboard, but including the Android Notch
getWindowVisibleDisplayFrame() which returns the visible area including the Android Notch

The computation of the keyboard height is wrong when the device has an Android Notch.
This pr adds the Android Notch computation for API levels 28+

Jonathan AndrewandFacebook GitHub Bot c18a492858 Fix Dimensions not updating on Android (#31973)
Summary:
When retrieving the device dimensions through the JS `Dimensions` utility, the result of `Dimensions.get` can be incorrect on Android.

### Related issues

- https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/29105
- https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/29451
- https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/29323

The issue is caused by the Android `DeviceInfoModule` that provides initial screen dimensions and then subsequently updates those by emitting `didUpdateDimensions` events. The assumption in that implementation is that the initial display metrics will not have changed prior to the first check for updated metrics. However that is not the case as the device may be rotated (as shown in the attached video).

The solution in this PR is to keep track of the initial dimensions for comparison at the first check for updated metrics.

## Changelog

[Android] [Fixed] - Fix Dimensions not updating

Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/31973

Test Plan:
### Steps to reproduce
1. Install the RNTester app on Android from the `main` branch.
2. Set the device auto-rotation to ON
3. Start the RNTester app
4. While the app is loading, rotate the device
5. Navigate to the `Dimensions` screen
6. Either
 a. Observe the screen width and height are reversed, or
 b. Quit the app and return to step 3.

### Verifying the fix

#### Manually
Using the above steps, the issue should no longer be reproducible.

#### Automatically
See unit tests in `ReactAndroid/src/test/java/com/facebook/react/modules/deviceinfo/DeviceInfoModuleTest.java`

fabriziobertoglio1987andFacebook GitHub Bot 333b46c4b0 Fix Image does not announce "disabled" (#31252)
Summary:
This issue fixes https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/30935 screenreader does not announce Image disabled accessibilityState.

As stated in AOSP View.java, the framework will handle routine focus movement, views indicate their willingness to take focus through the `isFocusable` method https://bit.ly/3dCnyHb

```
* <p>The framework will handle routine focus movement in response to user input. This includes
* changing the focus as views are removed or hidden, or as new views become available. Views
* indicate their willingness to take focus through the {link #isFocusable} method. To change
* whether a view can take focus, call {link #setFocusable(boolean)}.
```

The property is updated through its shadow node `ReactImageManager` method `setAccessible` https://bit.ly/3dDuK5L

```java
 * <p>Instances of this class receive property updates from JS via @{link UIManagerModule}.
 * Subclasses may use {link #updateShadowNode} to persist some of the updated fields in the node
 * instance that corresponds to a particular view type.
```

Araz AbishovandFacebook GitHub Bot 8207e97f91 Android: upgrading to OkHttp from v3 to v4 (#31084)
Summary:
Extends https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/30694 to fix tests.

OkHttp v4 was released almost a year ago. Even though v3 is still receiving security and bug fixes, most of the new improvements and features are landing in v4. This PR bumps OkHttp from v3 to v4 and addresses backward-incompatible changes.

Side effects of this upgrade:
 - OkHttp v4 depends on Kotlin's standard library, so react-native will have a transitive dependency on it.
 - The dex method count of test apk has exceeded the maximum, so multidexing had to be enabled for android tests.

Lulu WuandFacebook GitHub Bot dfa8eb0558 Rename "hasActiveCatalystInstance" to "hasActiveReactInstance" for clarification
Summary:
Sometimes ```hasActiveCatalystInstance()``` is used to check if it's safe to access the CatalystInstance, which will still crash in Venice.

Previously we mitigate this by changing ```reactContext.hasActiveCatalystInstance()``` to ```reactContext.hasActiveCatalystInstance() || reactContext.isBridgeless()```.

To solve this for all and good the plan is:
1, Rename ```hasActiveCatalystInstance()``` to ```hasActiveReactInstance()``` so it won't sounds like CatalystInstance-only.
2, Implement hasActiveReactInstance() for Venice. D27343867
3, Remove previous mitigation. D27343952

This diff is the first step, by xbgs there are **58** non-generated callsites of ```hasActiveCatalystInstance()``` in code base which are all renamed in this diff.

Summary:
This diff refactors the createViewInstance method in order to ensure that viewID is set before props are updated in the view.
This is necessary because there are components that deliver events at the same time their props are set. This means that some components might not have their viewId set correctly when events are delivered.
Since viewId is used to determine if a view belongs to Fabric or Paper, there are cases when the events are not delivered to the right renderer

Summary:
After animation has been finished using Native driver there is no final value passed from the native to JS side. This causes a bug from https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/28114.

This PR solves this problem in the same way as `react-native-reanimated` library. When detaching it is calling native side to get the last value from Animated node and stores it on the JS side.

Preserving animated value even if animation was using `useNativeDriver: true`
