Lulu Wu dfa8eb0558 Rename "hasActiveCatalystInstance" to "hasActiveReactInstance" for clarification
Summary:
Sometimes ```hasActiveCatalystInstance()``` is used to check if it's safe to access the CatalystInstance, which will still crash in Venice.

Previously we mitigate this by changing ```reactContext.hasActiveCatalystInstance()``` to ```reactContext.hasActiveCatalystInstance() || reactContext.isBridgeless()```.

To solve this for all and good the plan is:
1, Rename ```hasActiveCatalystInstance()``` to ```hasActiveReactInstance()``` so it won't sounds like CatalystInstance-only.
2, Implement hasActiveReactInstance() for Venice. D27343867
3, Remove previous mitigation. D27343952

This diff is the first step, by xbgs there are **58** non-generated callsites of ```hasActiveCatalystInstance()``` in code base which are all renamed in this diff.

Changelog:
[Android][Changed] - Rename "hasActiveCatalystInstance" to "hasActiveReactInstance"

David Vacca 5348a98207 Migrate lookup of EventDispatcher to not depend on UIManagerModule
Summary:
This diff migrates all the lookups of EventDispatcher to not depend on UIManagerModule anymore.
This refactor is necessary because:
- Users running in Fabric / Venice should not load on the UIManagerModule class
- D25858934 will introduce a change that will break all of these callsites

In the migration I'm relying on the method UIManagerHelper.getEventDispatcherFromReactTag() that returns the correct EventDispatcher for a reactTag.

I'm planning to land this change early in the week (to catch potential errors in alpha / beta versions)

As a followup we need to deprecate and prevent developers to continue using getNativeModule(UIManagerModule.class) moving forward. That will be part of another diff

Emily Janzer f0e80ae229 Set selection to end of text input on accessibility click
Summary:
When we render a text input that already has a text value (<TextInput value="123" />), its selection (cursor) is automatically set to the end of the text. However, when you swipe to focus the text input with TalkBack, Android decides it needs to clear the selection, which moves the cursor back to the beginning of the text input. This is probably not what you want if you're editing some text that's already there. Ideally we would just keep the selection at the end, but I don't know how to prevent this from happening - it seems to be part of how TextView handles the accessibility focus event? So instead I'm just explicitly setting the selection to the end of the text in our handler for accessibility click.

Emily Janzer d4a498aba2 Allow focusing TextInput when already focused
Summary:
Right now, `requestFocus()` is a no-op if the EditText view thinks it's already focused. In certain cases, though, we still want to focus the view even if it's already focused - for example, if TalkBack is enabled and you dismiss the keyboard, you want to be able to tap on the TextInput again to bring back the keyboard, even though the View never thinks it lost focus.

What I'm doing instead is basically disregarding the View's current focus state if we *would* focus the TextInput, which is in 3 circumstances:

- When the view is attached to a window, if autofocus is true
- When the focus is being requested by JS
- When the focus is being requested by an accessibility action from the OS

Petter Hesselberg 4b9350061f Petterh/support parcelable array args (#26379)
Summary:
`ReactRootView.startReactApplication` takes a `Bundle` argument called `initialProperties`. This is translated to a `ReadableMap` via `Arguments.fromBundle`. If the bundle contains an array of bundles, this gets translated by `Arguments.fromArray`.

If the bundle was passed from one activity to another via intent extras, however, there is a problem. After the bundle has been marshaled and unmarshaled, the array of `Bundle`s come out the other end as an arrap of `Parcelable`s, although each array element remains a `Bundle`. This results in an "Unknown array type" exception.

This PR fixes this by adding support for `Parcelable` arrays – provided they contain only members of type `Bundle`.

Janic Duplessis cc068b0551 Export the DevSettings module, add addMenuItem method (#25848)
Summary:
I wanted to configure the RN dev menu without having to write native code. This is pretty useful in a greenfield app since it avoids having to write a custom native module for both platforms (and might enable the feature for expo too).

This ended up a bit more involved than planned since callbacks can only be called once. I needed to convert the `DevSettings` module to a `NativeEventEmitter` and use events when buttons are clicked. This means creating a JS wrapper for it. Currently it does not export all methods, they can be added in follow ups as needed.

Joshua Ong ac7ec4602f Allow headless JS tasks to retry (#23231)
Summary:
`setTimeout` inside a headless JS task does not always works; the function does not get invoked until the user starts an `Activity`.

This was attempted to be used in the context of widgets. When the widget update or user interaction causes the process and React context to be created, the headless JS task may run before other app-specific JS initialisation logic has completed. If it's not possible to change the behaviour of the pre-requisites to be synchronous, then the headless JS task blocks such asynchronous JS work that it may depend on. A primitive solution is the use of `setTimeout` in order to wait for the pre-conditions to be met before continuing with the rest of the headless JS task. But as the function passed to `setTimeout` is not always called, the task will not run to completion.

This PR solves this scenario by allowing the task to be retried again with a delay. If the task returns a promise that resolves to a `{'timeout': number}` object, `AppRegistry.js` will not notify that the task has finished as per master, instead it will tell `HeadlessJsContext` to `startTask` again (cleaning up any posted `Runnable`s beforehand) via a `Handler` within the `HeadlessJsContext`.

Documentation also updated here: https://github.com/facebook/react-native-website/pull/771

### AppRegistry.js
If the task provider does not return any data, or if the data it returns does not contain `timeout` as a number, then it behaves as `master`; notifies that the task has finished. If the response does contain `{timeout: number}`, then it will attempt to queue a retry. If that fails, then it will behaves as if the task provider returned no response i.e. behaves as `master` again. If the retry was successfully queued, then there is nothing to do as we do not want the `Service` to stop itself.

### HeadlessJsTaskSupportModule.java
Similar to notify start/finished, we simply check if the context is running, and if so, pass the request onto `HeadlessJsTaskContext`. The only difference here is that we return a `Promise`, so that `AppRegistry`, as above, knows whether the enqueuing failed and thus needs to perform the usual task clean-up.

### HeadlessJsTaskContext.java
Before retrying, we need to clean-up any timeout `Runnable`'s posted for the first attempt. Then we need to copy the task config so that if this retry (second attempt) also fails, then on the third attempt (second retry) we do not run into a consumed exception. This is also why in `startTask` we copy the config before putting it in the `Map`, so that the initial attempt does leave the config's in the map as consumed. Then we post a `Runnable` to call `startTask` on the main thread's `Handler`. We use the same `taskId` because the `Service` is keeping track of active task IDs in order to calculate whether it needs to `stopSelf`. This negates the need to inform the `Service` of a new task id and us having to remove the old one.

Luna Wei c974b5e966 Remove SizeMonitoringFrameLayout
Summary: SizeMonitoringFrameLayout was used to set layout contraints on the root shadow node when the native view's size changes. Since then, we introduced ways for the root node to use proper layout contraints using the root view's measure specs, which provides more accurate constraints for the root node, so SizeMonitoringFrameLayout is no longer needed. This ends up making a lot of UIManagerModule's method signatures cleaner

Dulmandakh 4d95e85f64 remove unnecessary Android version checks (#23277)
Summary:
React Native's minSdkVersion is 16, or we support Android versions 16 (Jelly Bean) and above. But in the code we have many checks if Android is Jelly Bean or newer, which are unnecessary. This PR removes unnecessary Android version checks, also uses Android version names instead of numbers.

scisci e405e84fc3 Fix Native Rotation Android (#18872)
Summary:
Fixes #14161
Android crashes in some cases if an animated transform config contains a string value, like a rotation.
This PR fixes that by ensuring all values sent to the native side are doubles. It adds `__transformDataType` to AnimatedTransform.js.

Added integration test `ReactAndroid/src/androidText/js/AnimatedTransformTestModule.js` This test fails with the following error `INSTRUMENTATION_RESULT: longMsg=java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.String cannot be cast to java.lang.Double`, if the changes to AnimatedTransform.js are reverted.

Andrew Chen (Eng) be282b5287 Fix ReactRootView attachRootView race condition
Summary:
Yet another issue with mAttachedRootViews. Every time attachRootView is called, the root view's id is reset to NO_ID. However, there can be a case where the react context has not initialized yet, so we delay attaching the root view to the instance manager until setupReactContext. If attachRootView was called a second time before the react context has finished initializing, we end up in a situation where we try to attach the same root view twice

I'm planning to remove mAttachedRootViews all together in a future diff, but for now let's avoid these crashes.

Andrew Chen (Eng) df7e8c64ff Fix ReactInstanceManager deadlock
Summary:
D12829677 introduced a deadlock where onHostResume holds the lock on `moveToResumedLifecycleState()` then waits for the `mReactContext` lock, but at the same time setupReactContext holds the `mReactContext` lock and waits for `moveToResumedLifecycleState()` https://our.intern.facebook.com/intern/everpaste/?handle=GAgXFgLQH1ZlQikBAMQzo2LZ6h9TbiAxAAAz. The purpose of the previous diff was to make sure that detachRootoView and
setupReactContext did not interfere with each other, and implemented that by blocking on mReactContext. Since this overloads the usage of mReactContext, let's use a different lock `mAttachedRootViews` to implement this behavior instead

Andrew Chen (Eng) 309f85ace2 Fix ReactRootView mount/unmount race condition
Summary:
There are multiple reports of the NativeViewHierarchyManager trying to remove a root view with id -1. This can occur because of a race condition caused by calls to startReactApplication + unmountReactApplication.

We unfortunately overload overload the id field of the ReactRootView to store its react tag. This id is typically set when the view is attached to the react instance, and reset to NO_ID right before an attach occurs or when the react context is tearing down. If the react context has already been initialized, attaching the root view is synchronous and the id is set immediately. If the context has not been initialized, we save the root view in a mAttachedRootViews list and wait until setupReactContext (where the context is created) to finish attaching the root views.

There were two issues:
1) In setupReactContext, synchronizing on mReactContextLock is not enough to ensure that the root views in mAttachedRootViews have been initialized already
2) In detachRootView, removing the root view from mAttachedRootViews immediately will cause mAttachedRootViews to be out of sync when it is accessed by the time it is accessed in setupReactContext

To address these, the mReactContextLock will synchronize both the creation of the react context AND the initialization of the root views and detachRootView will synchronize on the mReactContextLock before mutating the mAttachedRootViews list.
