Nick Gerleman 8cdc9e7f04 Place TypeScript Declarations Alongside Source Files
Summary:
React Native's TS definitions are currently mostly stored in one monolithic file. This change splits the definitions up to correspond to the source files they came from, and are placed next to the source files. I think this should help inform, and make it easy to update the TS declarations when touching the Flow file.

I noticed as part of the change that the typings have not yet removed many APIs that were removed from RN. This is bad, since it means using the removed/non-functional API doesn't cause typechecker errors. Locating typings next to source should prevent that from being able to happen.

The organization here means individual TS declarations can declare what will be in the RN entrypoint, which is a little confusing. Seems like a good potential next refactor, beyond the literal translation I did.

George Zahariev d992ae0448 Codemod Object.assign with object literal first argument to object spread in Xplat
Summary:
Codemod `Object.assign` with object literal first argument (e.g. `Object.assign({}, foo)`) to object spread.

This adds several suppressions for exposed errors. The codemod produces errors as `Object.assign` is more unsafe than object spread. For example, `Object.assign` doesn't handle indexers, nor does it handle inexact objects properly, and when the (currently unsealed) empty object is supplied as the first argument, it also leads to unsafe behaviour:
https://flow.org/try/#0FAehAIGJwSQOwCYFMAeSBOBnYyDGAbAQ3SXADdjwBbQgBwC5wBvAbUwBd0BLOAcwF1GHbnwC+AbmDAAFAHkARgCskudgDpCmTF15xpTQowCMogDTU6ASkbyA9rfxJCcS+PBhwAfm8ymwcAGG4Eam-gFqETS0oaKu7hAAyrQkhAjgGOi2WOCa6Si0KuxICFIe0PCohKo5AGZF6HlV7DgqRCTklDyVqowGQpw8vOYRahJSCsqqGlo6en3gAEQAFlwL5vLGZuBdKE1xHjtN4Li2AK74abZkGVzI4AAG8vfgUvphOYzLq6EB4BvBP3CEUOqhi+0SyScaQyWUwOThqAKqmKpQg0AAqnBME5HGkalwsOwcuheDIJoVptpdPotvMTNZmDV7Iw4KcqPIMLE3B5vN4gA

The codemod is safe to do, despite some Flow errors, as `Object.assign` and object spread are equivalent at runtime, with the exception that `Object.assign` triggers setters on the target object. However the codemod [does not run](https://github.com/eslint/eslint/blob/938dbdd6c310784cc8a7329efaeb0e34321b9e1f/lib/rules/prefer-object-spread.js#L283-L285) if the first argument (object literal) has getters/setters, so we are fine.

[Android][Fixed] - Fix StatusBar not updating to use translucent values when set to the same value across different activities

With native nav we open routes in a new activity. Each activity has its own StatusBar configured so we need to ensure it is configured properly.
Currently since the statusBar RN component avoids changing the StatusBar if the value hasn't changed it never gets updated and doesn't become translucent this results in all our padding being off since we add padding to account for the status bar

Previously Android status bar can set to `dark-content` or `default`, I made the following changes:

- Added `light-content` to get align with iOS
- Changed the behavior of `default` from setting status bar with 'SYSTEM_UI_FLAG_LIGHT_STATUS_BAR' to not doing anything, I did this because 1, `setStyle('default')` is found called even without explicitly declared <StatusBar> on that surface, which I think should fail silently 2, my idea is that user should set status bar style to `dark-content` or `light-content` explicitly instead of using `default`.
- Fixed the bug found in Dating Settings's Second Look.

radex b58e176af0 Moving towards UIWindowScene support (#28058)
Summary:
Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/28058

I'm taking the first step towards supporting iOS 13 UIScene APIs and modernizing React Native not to assume an app only has a single window. See discussion here: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/25181#issuecomment-505612941

The approach I'm taking is to take advantage of `RootTagContext` and passing it to NativeModules so that they can identify correctly which window they refer to. Here I'm just laying groundwork.

- [x] `Alert` and `ActionSheetIOS` take an optional `rootTag` argument that will cause them to appear on the correct window
- [x] `StatusBar` methods also have `rootTag` argument added, but it's not fully hooked up on the native side — this turns out to require some more work, see: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/25181#issuecomment-506690818
- [x] `setNetworkActivityIndicatorVisible` is deprecated in iOS 13
- [x] `RCTPerfMonitor`, `RCTProfile` no longer assume `UIApplicationDelegate` has a `window` property (no longer the best practice) — they now just render on the key window

Next steps: Add VC-based status bar management (if I get the OK on https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/25181#issuecomment-506690818 ), add multiple window demo to RNTester, deprecate Dimensions in favor of a layout context, consider adding hook-based APIs for native modules such as Alert that automatically know which rootTag to pass

## Changelog

Tom Underhill f4de45800f PlatformColor implementations for iOS and Android (#27908)
Summary:
This Pull Request implements the PlatformColor proposal discussed at https://github.com/react-native-community/discussions-and-proposals/issues/126. The changes include implementations for iOS and Android as well as a PlatformColorExample page in RNTester.

Every native platform has the concept of system defined colors. Instead of specifying a concrete color value the app developer can choose a system color that varies in appearance depending on a system theme settings such Light or Dark mode, accessibility settings such as a High Contrast mode, and even its context within the app such as the traits of a containing view or window.

The proposal is to add true platform color support to react-native by extending the Flow type `ColorValue` with platform specific color type information for each platform and to provide a convenience function, `PlatformColor()`, for instantiating platform specific ColorValue objects.

`PlatformColor(name [, name ...])` where `name` is a system color name on a given platform. If `name` does not resolve to a color for any reason, the next `name` in the argument list will be resolved and so on. If none of the names resolve, a RedBox error occurs. This allows a latest platform color to be used, but if running on an older platform it will fallback to a previous version.
 The function returns a `ColorValue`.

On iOS the values of `name` is one of the iOS [UI Element](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uicolor/ui_element_colors) or [Standard Color](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uicolor/standard_colors) names such as `labelColor` or `systemFillColor`.

On Android the `name` values are the same [app resource](https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/resources/providing-resources) path strings that can be expressed in XML:
XML Resource:
`@ [<package_name>:]<resource_type>/<resource_name>`
Style reference from current theme:
`?[<package_name>:][<resource_type>/]<resource_name>`
For example:
- `?android:colorError`
- `?android:attr/colorError`
- `?attr/colorPrimary`
- `?colorPrimaryDark`
- `android:color/holo_purple`
- `color/catalyst_redbox_background`

On iOS another type of system dynamic color can be created using the `IOSDynamicColor({dark: <color>, light:<color>})` method. The arguments are a tuple containing custom colors for light and dark themes. Such dynamic colors are useful for branding colors or other app specific colors that still respond automatically to system setting changes.

Example: `<View style={{ backgroundColor: IOSDynamicColor({light: 'black', dark: 'white'}) }}/>`

Other platforms could create platform specific functions similar to `IOSDynamicColor` per the needs of those platforms. For example, macOS has a similar dynamic color type that could be implemented via a `MacDynamicColor`. On Windows custom brushes that tint or otherwise modify a system brush could be created using a platform specific method.

Tom Underhill dbe0d7d4b5 Add NativeColorType opaque type to normalizeColor() ahead of PlatformColor PR. (#28040)
Summary:
The [PlatformColor PR](https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/27908) is currently open to implement the [PlatformColor proposal](react-native-community/discussions-and-proposals#126). When that PR was imported into Facebooks internal builds it was found that the change to the `processColor()` function to return an opaque type or `number` instead of just `number` breaks internal components.

This PR is a simplification of the PlatformColor PR only changing the return type of `processColor()` from `?number` to `?number | NativeColorType` where `NativeColorType` is just an empty but opaque type. This will allow changes to be made to these internal components but with less risk than the larger PR.

Ramanpreet Nara a257083d2b Split NativeStatusBarManager into NativeStatusBarManager{Android,IOS}
Summary:
The `StatusBarManager` NativeModule does not have a uniform API on iOS and Android. In particular, the `setStyle` and the `setHidden` methods have an additional parameter on iOS:

```
/**
 *  - statusBarStyles can be:
 *    - 'default'
 *    - 'dark-content'
 *    - 'light-content'
 */
+setStyle: (statusBarStyle?: ?string, animated: boolean) => void;
/**
 *  - withAnimation can be: 'none' | 'fade' | 'slide'
 */
+setHidden: (hidden: boolean, withAnimation: string) => void;
```

If we keep the NativeModule spec the same between the two platforms, we'd have to keep the second parameter optional for both methods. This works for `setHidden`, because the second parameter is a string, and optional strings are allowed. However, for `setStyle`, the second parameter is a number, and we don't support optional numbers/booleans on Android in the NativeModule system. If we keep the optional number, then the following check triggers in our RedBox tests on iOS, which makes them fail: https://fburl.com/diffusion/b7adezd9.

So, since the two specs are sufficiently different, I figured that the easiest path forward is to split them apart.

James Ide 0ee5f68929 Migrate "Libraries" from Haste to standard path-based requires (sans vendor & renderers) (#24749)
Summary:
This is the next step in moving RN towards standard path-based requires. All the requires in `Libraries` have been rewritten to use relative requires with a few exceptions, namely, `vendor` and `Renderer/oss` since those need to be changed upstream. This commit uses relative requires instead of `react-native/...` so that if Facebook were to stop syncing out certain folders and therefore remove code from the react-native package, internal code at Facebook would not need to change.

See the umbrella issue at https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/24316 for more detail.

James Reggio 01f1780314 Expose static methods to manipulate the StatusBar stack imperatively (#21206)
Summary:
This PR exposes three static methods (`pushStackEntry`, `popStackEntry`, and `replaceStackEntry`) on StatusBar that enable imperative manipulation of the StatusBar style within the stack established by mounted StatusBar components.

Motivation:
----------

The StatusBar **component** provides a sensible API for manipulating that StatusBar style: every time a StatusBar component is mounted, its props are pushed onto a stack, and the props from the most recently mounted component are applied.

However, there are some scenarios where you may need to manipulate the StatusBar style from imperative code — particularly when invoking imperative third-party APIs that cause UI to appear. (For example, a user feedback utility or bug reporter that launches a full-screen modal.)

In modern iOS development, `UIViewControllerBasedStatusBarAppearance` is typically set to `YES`, which allows the third-party UIViewController to specify its preferred status bar style. However, as has been discussed at length in #11710, React Native has disabled this setting, which means that either the app's code or the third-party's React Native wrapper needs to manually manipulate React Native's StatusBar API to achieve the desired outcome.

The existing imperative StatusBar APIs are not a good fit for these needs because they simply overwrite the existing StatusBar styles, and provide no means of reverting StatusBar style changes when the third-party UI is dismissed.

To improve upon this situation, this PR makes it possible to call `StatusBar.pushStackEntry` before launching the third-party UI, wait for the UI to dismiss, and then call `StatusBar.popStackEntry` (supplying the token returned from the push call).

I've featured the new stack-based imperative methods in the documentation, but stopped short of explicitly deprecating the older imperative methods — though I can think of no reason not to deprecate them. Feedback is welcome on this point.
