Christoph Purrer 477663cba8 Avoid keypress event when text is pasted on macOS
Summary:
There is an issue on react-native-macOS in which clipboard pastes cause a keyPress event both for SingleLine and Multiline text fields.

This problem does not exist on iOS.

However, we can fix it for macOS and keep the iOS behavior unchanged.

# Invocation order on macOS

## macOS Singeline textField
- https://github.com/microsoft/react-native-macos/blob/main/Libraries/Text/TextInput/Multiline/RCTUITextView.m#L309 is called
- [NSTextView(NSPasteboard) paste:] () is called
- [NSTextView(NSSharing) shouldChangeTextInRanges:replacementStrings:] () is called
- https://github.com/microsoft/react-native-macos/blob/main/Libraries/Text/TextInput/RCTBackedTextInputDelegateAdapter.m#L382 is called
- https://github.com/microsoft/react-native-macos/blob/main/Libraries/Text/TextInput/RCTBackedTextInputDelegateAdapter.m#L323 is called
- https://github.com/microsoft/react-native-macos/blob/main/Libraries/Text/TextInput/RCTBaseTextInputView.m#L436

There is the issue. As ```!backedTextInputView.textWasPasted``` is still ```NO``` we accidently send a keyPress event

## macOS Multiline textView
- [NSTextView(NSSharing) shouldChangeTextInRanges:replacementStrings:] () is called
- https://github.com/microsoft/react-native-macos/blob/main/Libraries/Text/TextInput/Singleline/RCTUITextField.m#L438 is called

There is the issue. As ```!backedTextInputView.textWasPasted``` is still ```NO``` we accidently send a keyPress event

# Invocation order on iOS
Problem does not arise as https://github.com/facebook/react-native/blob/main/Libraries/Text/TextInput/RCTBaseTextInputView.m#L381 is not called as [UIPasteboard _performAsDataOwner:block:] () is used, not causing an side-effects

Christoph Purrer 547220fee4 Avoid sharing mutable attributed string across threads in RCTBaseTextInputShadowView
Summary:
The `NSMutableAttributedString` was initialized with the same backing store as the cached attributed string on the shadow queue (background thread), but then passed to the main thread and ultimately the JS thread.

This explicitly copies the mutable attributed string into an immutable one on the shadow thread before passed off to other threads, which hopefully will address the `convertIdToFollyDynamic` crash that always includes `RCTBaseTextInputShadowView` touching an attributed string on the shadow queue in the trace.

A crash encountered in react-native-macOS is very similar to one fixed by https://github.com/microsoft/react-native-macos/pull/489#discussion_r451789471 (see discussion), and it's possible this `replacement` string also suffers from sharing the same backing store as the attributed string (maybe only when the range encompasses the entire string?) and therefore should be copied as well.

Tony Du 1e3cb91707 Allow multiline TextInputs be submittable without blurring (#33653)
Summary:
For multiline TextInputs, it's possible to send the submit event when pressing the return key only with `blurOnSubmit`. However, there's currently no way to do so without blurring the input and dismissing the keyboard. This problem is apparent when we want to use a TextInput to span multiple lines but still have it be submittable (but not blurrable), like one might want for a TODO list.

[General] [Deprecated] - Remove usages of `blurOnSubmit` in native code and convert `blurOnSubmit` to `returnKeyAction` in the JavaScript conversion layer

Test Plan:
Verified old usages of combinations of `blurOnSubmit` and `multiline` matched previous behavior and that the new `returnKeyAction` prop behaves as expected.

Summary:
Fixes https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/30748: on iOS 14, when trying to hold down the space bar and move the cursor on a multi-line TextInput with lots of lines, the cursor could not be scrolled to the desired point. It works as expected on iOS 13 and before.

Figured out that iOS14 acting as expected without `[setContentOffset:animated:]`, so exclude it when iOS version is and above 14.

Shuhao Zhang f3b8d4976f Bug fix: <TextInput> content is reset when emoji is entered at the max length
Summary:
When maxLength is defined in <TextInput>, if the last character at max length is an emoji, the content of the input is cleared:

Related Github issues:

https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/10929
https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/10964

## Root cause:

When NSString was created, unicode characters were 16-bit long, so Objective-C considers every unicode character as 16-bit. However, unicode was later extended to more than 16bit, for example, emojis, which causes NSString substring method cuts off at the wrong position.

Example:

```
NSString *s = @"abc{emoji:1f601}";
NSInteger len = s.length; //length is 5 (as {emoji:1f601} occupies two 16-bit characters)
NSString *s3 = [s substringToIndex: 3]; //s3 is "abc"
NSString *s4 = [s substringToIndex: 4]; //s4 is null!
```

If string s, "abc{emoji:1f601}", is entered in <TextInput>, which has max length 4, it will truncate the string to the first 4 characters, "cutting" the emoji in half which causes encoding error and returns null. The text input is cleared.

## Solution:

If the character at max length is longer than 16-bit, truncate the character BEFORE it instead. In the previous example, truncate till index 3 instead of 4. The end result will be "abc" and the emoji is dropped.

## Changelog:

[iOS] [Fixed] - <TextInput> content is reset when emoji is entered at the max length

This PR removes most of the tvOS remnants in the code. Most of the changes are related to the tvOS platform removal from `.podspec` files, tvOS specific conditionals removal (Obj-C + JS) or tvOS CI/testing pipeline related code.

In addition to the changes listed above I have removed the deprecated `Platform.isTVOS` method. I'm not sure how `Platform.isTV` method is correlated with Android TV devices support which is technically not deprecated in the core so I left this method untouched for now.

Samuel Susla 3d4535a2bb Introduce InputAccessoryView
Summary:
Changelog: [Internal]

Introducing InputAccessoryView.

There is one big difference between Fabric's implementation and Paper's implementation.

Fabric searches for text input from InputAccessoryView, unlike Paper where it is the other way around.

Manvir Singh d54113d8c4 implemented showSoftInputOnFocus for iOS (#28834)
Summary:
`showSoftInputOnFocus` was added in https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/25028, but it was only added for Android. There was a lot of discussion on the original issue being addressed (https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/14045), that there is a need for this on iOS as well. The issue with iOS was brought up again on https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/27243.

On a related note, when searching this repo's issues for `showSoftInputOnFocus`, it appears that there are several closed issues that claim that the Android implementation doesn't work (https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/25685, https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/25687, https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/26643). So perhaps the Android implementation needs to be looked at as well (I myself have not gotten around to confirming whether it works or not)

## Changelog

[iOS] [Added] - Add showSoftInputOnFocus to TextInput
Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/28834

Test Plan:
You'd use this just like you would in the Android implementation:
```jsx
<TextInput showSoftInputOnFocus={false} />
```

Samuel Susla e68f9bf768 Calling Paper TextInput setTextAndSelection view command now dirties layout
Summary:
Changelog: [Internal]

Previously `setTextAndSelection` was not dirtying layout. This would cause an issue where `setTextAndSelection` causes layout change. For example calling setTextAndSelection with empty string on a multiline auto expanding text input.

I changed one example in TextInputSharedExamples.js, "Live Re-Write (no spaces allowed) and clear" example is now multiline. This allows to test whether `setTextAndSelection` dirties layout. Enter multiline string to to the example text input and press clear. Observe that the text input shrinks to single line height.

Jonny Burger a2f8b9c36e Set black as default text color for <TextInput/> on iOS (#28708)
Summary:
This is a follow-up pull request to https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/28280 (reviewed by shergin).
This pull request tried to solve the problem of the default color in a TextInput in dark mode on iOS being white instead of black. I got suggested to solve the problem not on the level of RCTTextAttributes, but on the level of RCTUITextField.

Setting `self.textColor = [UIColor black];` in the constructor did not work, because it gets overwritten by nil in `RCTBaseTextInputView.m`. There I implemented the logic that if NSForegroundColorAttributeName color is nil then the color is being set to black. I think the `defaultTextAttributes` property confuses here, because it ends up being the effective text attributes, e.g. if I unconditionally set the default text color to black, it cannot be changed in React Native anymore. So I put the nil check in.

## Changelog

[iOS] [Fixed] - TextInput color has the same default (#000) on iOS whether in light or dark mode
Pull Request resolved: https://github.com/facebook/react-native/pull/28708

Test Plan:
I have manually tested the following:
- The default text color in light mode is black
- The default text color in dark mode is black
- The color can be changed using the `style.color` attribute
- Setting the opacity to 0.5 results in the desired behavior, the whole TextInput becoming half the opacity.
– Setting the `style.color` to rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.5) works as intended, creating a half-opaque text color.

Janic Duplessis 6adba409e6 Implement TextInput autoFocus natively on iOS (#27803)
Summary:
This implement the autoFocus functionality natively instead of calling the focus method from JS on mount. This is needed to properly fix the issue described in https://github.com/facebook/react-native/issues/27217, where when using native navigation (UINavigationController) text input focus needs to happen in the same frame transition starts or it leads to an animation bug in UIKit.

My previous attempt fixed the problem only partially and the bug could still happen since there is no guaranty code executed in useEffect will end up in the same frame as the native view being created and attached.

To fix this I added an autoFocus prop to the native component on iOS and in didAttachToWindow we focus the input if it is set. This makes sure the focus is set in the same frame as the view hierarchy containing the input is created.

Valentin Shergin ae113aa697 Refinements in RCTBackedTextInputViewProtocol protocol
Summary:
RCTBackedTextInputViewProtocol is a protocol that describes which capabilities must be exposed for some TextInput-like UIView to be compatible with the rest of TextInput infra. We use that in both implementations. In Classic React Native we use Objective-C runtime mechanisms to call many of those methods (via ViewManager's directives); that masked the problem that the protocol was incomplete.

In Fabric, we call all methods normally, so we need to declare all of them here.

Valentin Shergin 827b1fe7a4 TextInput: Correct implementation of RCTUITextField::scrollEnabled (which is still noop)
Summary:
Both RCTUITextField and RCTUITextView must maintain the same public interface that describes all possible features that TextInput needs. That features are declared via `RCTBackedTextInputViewProtocol`.
`scrollEnabled` is a part of this protocol. The idea behind this prop was borrowed from `UIScrollView` class (which `UITextView` extends) and implemented for `RCTUITextField` (yeah, implemented as no-op).
In this diff we change the implementation of this prop to be more consistent with original implementation in UIScrollView:
* Now the name of the getter is now `isScrollEnabled`;
* The object now retains the actual value of the prop (even if it ignores that).

We need all those features for Fabric-compatible implementation.
